Paul Robinson says Tottenham has no reason to be envious or worry about Newcastle United’s takeover because they are bigger than the Magpies.
The Lilywhites remain one of the biggest clubs in England, but with money now at their disposal, Newcastle could topple them in some years.
Kieran Maguire revealed on Twitter that Spurs made £714million more in commercial income than Newcastle did during the ownership of Mike Ashley.
That shows the growth Spurs have experienced in recent years and the financial gap between both clubs at the moment.
Former Tottenham number one, Robinson believes Spurs have no reason to worry about Newcastle competing at the top level for now.
This is because they are currently millions of miles ahead of their rivals and there are so many changes that need to happen at Newcastle to make them a top club again.
He told Football Insider: “I don’t think Tottenham will be worried about it. At the end of the day, there is not much they can do.
“The amount of money that has come into Newcastle is incredible. It is now a case of how it is used. It is a very interesting one to watch as an outsider looking in. It will not happen overnight though.
“There are a lot of ifs and buts because there is a lot that needs changing an Newcastle, both on and off the pitch.
“From Tottenham’s point of view, they are a million miles ahead at the moment. Both in terms of their playing squad and their revenue model. Tottenham’s squad, stadium and training ground are all far superior.
“Don’t get me wrong though, Newcastle will be there one day.”
Both clubs will face each other this weekend and Tottenham can earn a huge win against them to show who the bigger club is.
