Pundit claims he has already “been told” who Tottenham’s new manager will be this summer

TalkSport’s Alan Brazil recently made a claim that has the Tottenham Hotspur fans buzzing.

The former Scottish footballer claimed that he has “been told” Mauricio Pochettino is set to replace Antonio Conte in the summer as the manager of the football club.

Despite Spurs’ current disappointing performance, Brazil believes that they can still overcome Milan in London and progress to the next round.

He said (quotes via TBR):

“I’ve been disappointed with Spurs, but you look at the table, and what they’re left in and I think they can overcome Milan in London.

“I do, I think they can go through to the next round. So I understand what Jamie (O’Hara) is saying, and I’ll say it again, I’m told he’s probably going to leave and Poch will come in.

“But whoever comes in, has got to have money to improve, especially in midfield.”

Mauricio Pochettino is a popular figure among Tottenham fans who enjoyed a golden period under his management.

He helped Spurs rise to prominence and cemented their status as regular top 4 finishers. The team also had their best Champions League run in the 2018/2019 season, where they made it all the way to the final, only to lose against Liverpool.

The team also made a charge for the Premier League title and came runners up in 2016/2017.

Unfortunately, Pochettino was surprisingly sacked by Daniel Levy just a few months after he led the team to the Champions League final.

Since Pochettino’s departure, Spurs have struggled to maintain consistency. Jose Mourinho was brought in as the new manager and managed the team for one and a half years before he was sacked and replaced by Ryan Mason temporarily.

The former Wolves manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, took over the team in June 2021 but only lasted five months after a terrible start to the season. He was eventually replaced by the current manager, Antonio Conte, who did wonders in his debut season by guiding the team to a top-four finish.

If Antonio Conte stays for a longer period and is financially backed by the club, he may be able to end Spurs’ trophy drought. The Italian manager has won trophies at every club he has managed.

However, reports suggest that he will not be signing a new contract with the club, with Pochettino being one of the most likely candidates to replace him.

Whoever takes over as the new manager for Tottenham will need funds to improve the team, especially in midfield. Tottenham have been struggling in this area, which has contributed to their lackluster performances.

According to the most recent report, McLaren’s billionaire owners Jahm Najafi along with investors from Abu Dhabi are set to make a stunning bid to buy the club in a couple of weeks. If the takeover deal is completed, there is no reason why Spurs can not become a force to reckon with in the league.
