Pressure is real on Thomas Frank as fan patience wears thin after too many rotten performances

Fan discontent is growing, and Tottenham’s demanding environment means sustained poor performances could change that quickly. However, we are talking about a manager whose conventional tactics were supposed to enhance our position.

The booing is real.

Tottenham sit 12th in the Premier League at the halfway stage. A recent 0-0 draw away at Brentford (on January 1, 2026) was described as drab and uninspiring, with Spurs managing only two shots on target. Fans booed Frank at full-time, highlighting frustration over a lack of creativity and attacking flair, exacerbated by injuries to key players like Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, and the suspension of Xavi Simons.

Spurs have shown solid defensive improvements under Frank, with clean sheets in recent games, but offensive struggles persist. Frank has emphasised that the team is in transition and expects reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Is it all on Frank?

Given the severe question marks surrounding a squad now stripped by transfer, it is incumbent on the club to keep the manager’s resources at an attractive level. Richarlison has not been a success. Tel and Odobert have both been underwhelming.

Odds on removal have shifted

Earlier in the 2025/26 season (e.g., mid-December), Frank was briefly the favourite or second-favourite to be the next manager sacked, with odds as short as 2/1 following poor runs. However, recent updates (post-Enzo Maresca’s sacking at Chelsea on January 1) show the market has shifted:

Current favourites include Nuno Espírito Santo (West Ham), Ruben Amorim (Man Utd), and others like Scott Parker or Rob Edwards.

Frank is no longer among the top contenders in the latest sack race odds, suggesting bookmakers view his position as relatively secure for now.

This cooling follows a slight uptick in results with wins over Crystal Palace and Brentford, combined with club backing for January signings. Barring a drastic downturn in form, Frank is safe. For now.
