Nobody could have predicted the that last 4 months, and the effect it would have on football and other things that are important. So it’s particularly unsettling for a club like Spurs that was run with such fiscal prudence to be first in the queue to get economically hurt by COVID-19.
There may be some crumbs of comfort on the horizon for Daniel Levy as the government look to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for use as a test venue for a gradual return of supporters to the Premier League, according to Harry Pratt for the Daily Star.
Spurs’ venue is ideal to use as a test case as it unquestionably offers the most space as well as the most advanced internal systems. Once a gold standard can be established for health and safety practises, this can then be applied and adjusted as required across all manner of clubs.
The first test might come as soon as next month, with a preseason friendly in August.
I feel sorry for levy. Covid fk up the whole plans. We’ll get through it though. COYS
If this crowd less football was a new sport trying to win over the public I wouldn’t give it much chance of surviving long term. I can’t pin it down exactly but there is a feeling of unreality or futility about the whole thing. If this was the future I wonder would I be watching in a few years from now.
It’s been frustrating over the years when we’ve been in the Europa but not really gone out to win it, however next year I do think its important we are in it. It will help the club bring in revenue, help sponsors etc and to be honest its probably our only way back in the CL as I don’t think ENIC will invest enough for us to be top 4 next year anyway regardless of how many games we play..
Hard to take a journalist called “Harry Pratt” seriously lol.
