Premier League club ‘have made a loan request’ for experienced Spurs player

By Saikat -

Tottenham winger Lucas Moura has been linked with a move away from the London club this summer.

The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order after the arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski last season and Richarlison this summer. He needs to leave the club in order to play regularly and Newcastle are prepared to provide him with an exit route.

As per Ignazio Genaurdi (via GFFN live blog), Newcastle have now made a loan request for the player.

The update read: “According to Ignazio Genaurdi Newcastle have made a loan request to Tottenham over former PSG man Lucas Moura – who is still under contract in North London until 2024. The Magpies are also interested in Lyon’s Gusto but Les Gones are against selling.”

It will be interesting to see if Spurs are willing to let him leave before the deadline.

Moura has been a quality player for Spurs and he would be a superb short-term addition for the Magpies. Newcastle could use his flair and pace in the final third and he is versatile enough to play on either flank.

On a loan deal, it would be a no-risk signing with huge potential upside. He could form a quality partnership with the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak in the attack.

Newcastle have had a very impressive window so far and wrapping up the window with Moura’s signing would be the icing on the cake.
