“Poundland FC – These Fans Furious With Spurs’ New Year Plans

By Joe Fish -

As Spurs fans, we are programmed to expect disappointment in the transfer market. Especially Januarys during the Mauricio Pochettino era.

But a new manager brings with them a near certainty of activity, so Jose Mourinho’s arrival had got us geared up for some New Year spending on a squad that has needed and been promised investment for several windows.

We were fools to get our hopes up, if the latest reports are to be believed.

Sky Sports understands that our January approach will be to look for short-term loans to plug gaps in the squad – such as those caused by injuries to Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane – rather than invest in long-term solutions.

MORE: Opinion – Sissoko Op Spins Spurs Into Self-Inflicted Chaos

When Liverpool and Manchester City need to recruit in January – they break their transfer records, as they did on Virgil van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte respectively. We look for loans. That shows our level right now.

This has not gone down well with “fed up” Spurs fans on Twitter, who have again pointed the finger at chairman Daniel Levy for a lack of ambition.

Tappa I admire your glass half full attitude . I wish I could see what you see. I just don’t see it. There is something really wrong at the top of this club. We had more than one chance to push forward and we could be in the position Liverpool are in right now and still be in WHL! We wouldn’t of even had to break the bank. Managers have come and go as well as some very good players. The one constant is Levy. He has gotten it wrong or failed to act time after time. Realistically he hasn’t gotten it wrong because you have to act incorrectly and I would say he didn’t act at all. He just changed managers and didn’t act again. Weather he is being told not to act or it’s his call is what I’m not sure of. Does Lewis stop him or does Lewis just support him because Levy’s failure to act keeps his cash flow positively coming in? Either way its a problem and to think that “if revenue increases in the new stadium and we have money to spend these two have set the precedence that they will not act again. The rich get richer and why would they not pocket the increased revenue instead of upping the operating budget of the Club. There is no proof in the past of them being willing to up the budget, so until it happens I would have to say it will not. I hope you are right and soon but I just don’t see it.

When we get players in who appreciate where they are and how lucky they are they wont need moral boosting. Load of old spoilt brats at our place now who take it all for granted. Imagine a footballer waking up and thinking bloody hell I have to go to that bloody Hotspur way to Train for bloody Tottenham. W@nk€rS

What chance a signing is announced either before or shortly after the Liverpool game to deflect unwelcome attention from the embarrassment about to unfold.

History tends to repeat itself. And maureen has always been a chequebook manager, apart from porto maybe.. Im still bitter at alan sugars treatment of sheringham. Everyone should realise that teddy left us because of him. And returned as soon as sugar shunted off. The man was a helmet towards the players.

Levy apparently doesn’t like ‘levy time’.. So get your business done early then man! A striker needed.. A centre mid needed. Wing backs needed on both sides… Its enough to make us all weep…… If levy buys nobody in this window and eriksen is still putting that white shirt on then we are a joke.

Financial wise i think he means, they probably are now. Both english, both would cost a bomb to buy now… Should have snapped them up younger like we did with dele.

I don’t know if I can support spurs anymore with levy /Lewis at the helm . I’ve barely enjoyed a game in 16 months, I’m sure my life would be just fine without this frustration/ misery of levy’s games . The success ( not that we won anything) and now demise of the team has made it impossible for levy to hide behind the lies .

I was at the Pendulum Summit today in Dublin where Alan Sugar was one of the keynote speakers. He’s of the view the Mourinho / Levy axis is doomed to end in tears sooner rather then later. Mourinho is a cheque book manager and Levy has a very small cheque book says Sir Al. He’s also still very bitter over how Klinsmann treated us after Spurs ‘resurrected’ his career.

I can’t see any other way out for the chairman, unless he goes back to his cheap as chips, Njies and Nkoudous. Juventus are the specialist’s at one marquee signing, eg Ronaldo, and the squad is filled out with loans and free transfers. It’s worked well for them. Only problem is the loans and free transfers want big wages and signing on fees in lieu of long term contracts. Can’t see that happening.

James Maddison or Grealish would be ideal replacements for Eriksen but they are way out of our league now. We cpuld have bought eithet of them a year ago and eased them into the team in preparation for Eriksens departure. Thats what a well run vlub would do but we are more likely to be eyeing up somebody like Todd Cantwell at Norwich or Eze at QPR.

Who is going to loan us anybody decent? The loan market consists of young players like KWP looking for game time or out of favour players like Danny Drinkwater looking for game time / rebuild their career. I can’t see where the quality is going to come from in the loan market.

The deal that tells me nothing has changed is Alderweireld. Levy would usually cash in his chips on a player in his thirties, eg Dembele to China. Not to mention Toby is declining, but to put in an upgrade would be 50-60 million, won’t happen. Those missed windows, oh my, the longer the rebuild is postponed the more expensive it becomes. Vertonghen cost what £12 million, more big money, all over the squad the costs mount. Loan deals and free transfers will have to do the job. Levy is living in a world, whether he likes it or not where Harry Maguire costs £80 million and James Maddison is quoted at £100 million. Suck that and see what it tastes like.

We need Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis out of Spurs, under their control we will win NOTHING, even with a manager that wins something everywhere he goes apart from Spurs. What does that tell ya !!!
