Potential Chelsea signing could pave way for 25-yr-old’s Spurs exit

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a move away from the London club this summer.

The 25-year-old left-back arrived from Real Madrid for a fee of around €30 million but he has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the Premier League club over the past year.

According to a report from ABC Sevilla via Sportwitness, the defender is now looking to secure a permanent exit from the London club so that he can play regularly next season.

With the World Cup coming up, the 25-year-old is desperate to cement his place in the Spanish national team squad. Staying on the bench at Tottenham might not be a good idea for him right now and it remains to be seen whether he can return to Sevilla this summer.

The player was on loan at Sevilla during the 2019/20 season and he knows the club well. He should be able to settle in quickly and establish himself as an important first-team player upon his return.

Apparently, he would be ‘delighted’ with a return to the Spanish club this summer.

Meanwhile, the report adds that Sevilla remain interested in signing the player this summer but any potential transfer would depend on the exit of Jules Kounde. The French defender has been linked with a move away from Spain and Chelsea are close to securing an agreement to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Sevilla need to recoup some money from the Frenchman’s sale before they can pay up for Reguilon.
