Pochettino to make Monday Night Football appearance with Jamie Carragher

By Bruce Grove -

Sky Sports has announced that former Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino will be in the studio on Monday Night Football when Leeds United take on Leicester City.

The game will see the man who gave Pochettino his break in football, Marcelo Bielsa looking to guide his Leeds team to a win over Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes.

Poch is one of several coaches who have credited Bielsa for helping them become quality managers.

He will help viewers get an insight into the mind of the man who helped Leeds United end their 16-year absence from the Premier League by gaining promotion back to the English top-flight last season.

He played for Bielsa during his time as a footballer at club level and the Argentinean national team.

He has said of the manager before now per Football London: “He is one of the best managers in the world.

“He is like my father in both ways because he’s 60 years old so he can be my father and he is also like my football father.”

Pochettino remains unattached to any team after he was fired by Tottenham and replaced with Jose Mourinho last year.

The former defender will no doubt be hoping to get back to the dugout very soon.

Moore brought the humour and has to be my favorite. Still tough and smooth with it. Also very English. He seals the deal with the best movies too. The likes of moonraker, Live and let die, view to a kill were marvellous. Best songs and the best woman too he was a top womanizer, Roger was the penultimate Bond for me. 😊

Losing to the twerps was horrible. I know the 9 changes was the real reason, but we need a strong reaction today. Smash Brighton and stay in the running…. Ben Davies and Harry Winks have to be fully demoted from our firsts now. I’m not sure either are good enough for the squad at all after their Antwerp performances… Lloris, Reg, Dier, Toby, Aurier.. Tanguy, Hojberg, Sissoko… Son, Kane, Bale

I thought idris Elba was gonna get the bond job once (he woulda been great) he don’t want it anymore, said “he’s too old. Maybe Ashley Walters (top boy) might get it one day. I wonder if they’ll show him getting stopped all the time for driving an expensive car🌚

I agree, 7-9 points from those three fixtures and we will be looking more in the mix, for sure. It will go a long way to influencing the seasons outcome.

Talk of a dressing room rift and the squad split into two camps might be premature, but it can’t be allowed to happen. It could be detrimental to our season.

We’ve certainly started better along with Everton and Villa whereas the others haven’t got going yet. The lack of crowds and the short pre-season has definitely had an effect…

The former I reckon, but Woodward probably threatened to stop their wages unless they got on with it. Hey presto, they start playing again!

I just think they were totally abysmal against us and it gave a false impression. Some kind of Jose hang up or whatever.

Dalton was a bit too ‘thespian’ for my liking but all those that followed Connery were good in their own way but he set the standard which was never quite matched.

All the top teams are playing in and out. Suggests that organised gambling scams are afoot. Utd go from utter shambles in a 1-6 to slaughtering PSG and Leipzig? Give me a break. You don’t do that as professional footballers. You do that either trying to get the manager sacked or because you are taking orders from organised crime.

Forget Bond.

Don’t get no better than The Untouchables.
The Rock
The Hunt for Red October
A Bridge too Far
Murder on the Orient Express
The Offence
The Longest Day

Classic Performances

Got to put Entrapment in there aswell.

They both made that film watchable, for different reasons obviously.

Nobody really came close, Roger Moore did it in a more tongue in cheek way in the 70’s and was probably the next best Bond.

I also think the 1960’s style of the Connery films is so iconic, (as so much 60’s popular culture is) so it was also right time right place for him. The gadget sequences were so well thought out. Secret agents and crooks dressed as Mods too, gotta love it!

Still not convinced by any of the heavy hitters yet , Chelsea’s first half display was good but the second half up until they scored against the run of play they looked shaky. Liverpool didn’t look great the first half and were awarded a soft pen . City looked better today but are missing something. By no means am I saying we are better than these teams but it’s more open than the last few years imo

He was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000. In August, he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were “devastated by the news” of his death.

They said: “He was and shall always be remembered as the original James Bond whose indelible entrance into cinema history began when he announced those unforgettable words ‘the name’s Bond… James Bond’.

“He revolutionised the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him.”

Star Wars director George Lucas, who also created the Indiana Jones character, said Sir Sean “left an indelible mark in cinematic history”.

“He will always hold a special place in my heart as Indy’s dad. With an air of intelligent authority and sly sense of comedic mischief, only someone like Sean Connery could render Indiana Jones immediately into boyish regret or relief through a stern fatherly chiding or rejoiceful hug.

“I’m thankful for having had the good fortune to have known and worked with him. My thoughts are with his family.”

Back to the footy now that Chelsea following their impressive convincing 3-0 win against Burnley are moving up a gear some hype of Spurs winning the PL could be short lived!! Like Liverpool, Lampard addressed defensive deficiencies by recruiting a top keeper when tightening up defensively combined with their potent strike force look a menacing threat!

Yep Sir Sean Connery was my favourite No 1 James Bond ticking all the boxes made for the role with his handsome looks, accent and suave and sophisticated approach. IMO successive pretenders to his crown fell well short of my perfect 007!!

Bielsa is Poch’s mentor, I can’t think of anyone who knows more about Mad Dog’s unorthodox approach than him. Poch was a top class center back and a stalwart player for Argentina. He owe much of that and his management style to Bielsa.

As Jose admits “I was a sh*t player, playing at a sh*t level”. “Its a funny old game” as one of our own often said…
