Piers Morgan Is Right For Once – TV Host Slams Mourinho’s Improvised Training Session

By Joe Fish -

It is not often that I agree with Piers Morgan, but the TV presenter was absolutely right to slam Jose Mourinho and his fellow Covid-19 rebels.

To be fair, the Arsenal supporter was given an open goal by Mourinho and a group of players ignoring government guidance related to the coronavirus by holding a mini-training session on Monken Hadley Common in Barnet.

Tanguy Ndombele, Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon were among the Spurs players caught training on the park, with a video of the latter two jogging together showing them failing to follow social distancing protocol.

While speaking to Dr Hilary Jones, the show’s medical expert, on Good Morning Britain this morning, Morgan took the opportunity to stick the boot in on the Tottenham manager for setting a bad example.

“I was very surprised about because Mourinho has been very good in delivering food parcels for the media and so on,” the headline-seeking 55-year-old said on Good Morning Britain, according to the Daily Star.

“But Jose Mourinho, the Tottenham manager, to be having an unofficial training session with players, in which they’re clearly ignoring the social distancing rules. It sends out completely the wrong signal.

“Any young guys who want to be out there kicking a ball around with their mates, they shouldn’t be doing it.”

Dan Kilpatrick of the London Evening Standard understands that Mourinho only intended to train with Ndombele but things got out of hand with other locally-based players who were also using the park to stay in shape.

Mourinho has always been anti-authority but he’s never been stupid. This was a terrible idea and one that was never going to go undiscovered.
