“Pay Him What He’s Worth” These Spurs Fans Unhappy With Reports Of “Joke” Offer

Japhet Tanganga is in talks over signing a new and improved Tottenham contract worth £15,000 per week, according to Standard Sport.

The 20-year-old defender has made an immediate impression in his seven first-team appearances, which have come across the whole back-line and included very respectable showings against Liverpool and Man City.

Standard Sport understands that Spurs are ready to give Tanganga a 1000% pay rise from his current £1,000-per-week wage to mark his breakthrough.

But that isn’t enough for some free-spending Spurs fans on Twitter, who are insistent that the academy graduate deserves a much heftier salary.

We are used to stinginess from Daniel Levy but in this case the reported offer strikes the right balance of rewarding Tanganga’s good form and keeping the lad grounded. Too much, too soon, is often a recipe for disaster.

Tanganga will hopefully become the second big prospect to commit his future to Spurs after Troy Parrott signed a new long-term contract today.

Stand by for another player running down his contract IF he keeps improving AND if Levy tells suitors to cough up 50 plus million for him.

I appreciate the shrewdness of Levy’s mind but.. 15 grand? If the price of everyone’s season ticket goes up 10 quid a year I’m happy if it means we keep our best players happy.
