Panicking Tottenham tipped to make a desperate deadline day signing

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham have been tipped to make a move for former Chelsea bad boy Diego Costa, claims the Sun.

The only saving grace with this rumour is that it comes from a less than reputable tabloid and one has to hope that this is not one of the very few that they get right.

It seems the “source” for the Sun is a “flurry of bets” on the 32-year-old setting up camp at the Tottenham stadium.

Costa has just recently had his contract terminated at Atletico Madrid and that makes him a free agent and in all fairness, he would not be able to demand a huge salary so it could make sense to a few people.

The Brazilian born Spaniard has not been setting the world on fire since his move to Madrid but even if he was, he really is too much of a liability surely.

It is common knowledge that Mourinho wants some nasty sods in his team but Costa is just too much and with his goal-scoring prowess on the decline one can only hope this does not come to fruition.

This is going to be a long day.
