On-loan Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters made his Southampton debut in a 2-1 Premier League defeat to Burnley.
The 22-year-old was one of a couple of Saints defenders duped by Matej Vydra for this stunning winning goal, although the Clarets striker may not have got a shot away had Walker-Peters made a stronger tackle.

That is a brilliant goal from Matej Vydra and Burnley have the lead! pic.twitter.com/tD5qPcUT05
Walker-Peters was soon hooked by Ralph Hasenhuttl as Southampton pushed for an equaliser, and these Saints fans on Twitter weren’t too impressed with what they saw from the Spurs youngster.
Only first game but Walker-Peters was a bit ordinary & lightweight. #SaintsFC

vestergaard and djenepo were horseshit today. that was also armstrong’s worst game for quite a while. walker-peters looked ok 1st half, but was poor 2nd half

Walker-Peters needs to sort himself out #liability #saintsfc #wemarchon

KWP was poor

Can’t say I was that impressed with KWP, will obviously take more time to adjust to our style of play but seemed incapable of putting in a strong enough challenge and didn’t really threaten in an attacking sense. Hopefully more to come from him. #SaintsFC

Didn’t think it was possible to have a worse performance at Right Back than Valery’s when we lost 9-0 but KWP managed it… respect

I hope Hasenhuttl is patient with KWP as he is in dire need of regular football. Losing his place after a few games would be the worst thing for Spurs as we’d learn nothing about him, nor put him in the shop window.
Last season he officially registered 3 assists from 370m of playing time – which is remarkable. It’s obvious he’s not rated by Poch or Jose though so I guess we should sell. Hopefully he will get better for Southampton and it was just a dodgy debut.
Wot! He didn’t “light it up” in his first game. Sell him
