Heung Son-Min’s challenge was dubious to put it mildly, and until better footage emerges it will be difficult to make a certain judgement.
An obvious issue here is that the resultant injury is so awful, the hesitancy of TV producers to run slow-motion clips is entirely understandable.
In what is somewhat of a moot point, the horrible injury sustained by André Gomes is surely as a result of the player then crashing into the equally/even more dangerous challenge by Serge Aurier?
To be clear, the severity of the injury is not being vaguely debated – it was 100% a straight red – rather the thought is that the perpetrator might not be Sonny.
