One ridiculous Tottenham rumour that we can now put to bed

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is one of the teams that have been linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho in this transfer window, and we can now put that rumour to bed.

This is because the former Liverpool man will no longer be making the much-publicised return to the Premier League this summer anymore.

Coutinho has struggled since he left the Reds in 2018 and he was shipped out on loan to Bayern Munich last summer.

He helped the Germans win the Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League treble.

He even scored twice against his parent club in the Champions League. The Germans had allowed their option to make his loan move permanent to expire meaning he was to look for a new home this summer.

All that has changed now as new Barcelona boss, Ronald Koeman has informed him that he will be part of his plans going into the new season, according to the player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian.

Asked if Coutinho will stay at Barcelona this summer, super-agent Joorabchian told TalkSport host Jim White: “Yeah.

“Koeman called him right after the Champions League victory with Bayern, the following day, and told him he’s very much in his plans and would like him to return.

“He was due to return on September 7 but actually he returned at the beginning of September because he didn’t want to lose his momentum and fitness, and he’s been training with Barcelona.

“All signs point to the fact Barcelona have changed quite dramatically, the way their philosophy of how they wanted to move forward from last year and the players they’ve brought in, like Coutinho, Dembele and Griezmann they’re all going to be part of the squad this year.”

Ronald Koeman spent loads at the toffees and they were still rubbish. Suprised Barca have let him take over. Good player Ron was but he hasn’t done much as a manager.
