One For The Sliding Tackle Scrapbook: At Least One Spurs Defender Was On Point Against United

By The Boy -

Sure, Joe Rodon was in the backline of a Spurs side that lost 1-3 to Manchester United, but it would be remiss to tar the boy with a brush that suggested he was particularly part of the overall problem.

Defenders at this level need to pass accurately, that’s NOT up for debate. Joe Rodon hit 91% against Manchester United.

Joe won 67% of his duels. Which is pretty cool.

Our worst defender lost the ball on 16 occasions, Joe? Just twice.

Great ball into Kane in the final third.

Sliding tackle, baby!

Who knows how far Joe Rodon could go. I fully admit I was less than convinced after his first couple of outings for us, but that’s because I judge players on proven ability, opposed to some sort of blind hope.

Maybe not so suddenly, Joe might be looking like a guy to help mend a part of Tottenham that’s been becoming increasingly decrepit for several years…

More, please.

Rodon has taken over from Toby? He looks better than Dier and Sanchez right now but Toby is s bit of a stretch for me.

Rodon would be best served playing consistently alongside our most experienced and consistent defender which Is without doubt Toby. What’s he going to learn from Sanchez or Dier in that position?

Agree totally with that. Rodon should have been given a lot more game time to gain experience as well.

Rodon has taken over from Toby. The only way forward is to dump sorry sell sanchez, dier and Toby this year.
