One Fan Stands Up Against Dele Alli Abuse & I Think He’s Got A Point

By The Boy -

Dele Alli isn’t my favourite player, I think that’s safe to say. Whilst he’s clearly got bags of talent, his concentration levels are such that all too frequently he gives me the impression he might be more suited to owning his own chain of hairdressing salons or a nightclub.

Tottenham posted a nice montage of the boys in training yesterday, getting themselves prepped for the Manchester City match. One recurring theme were the small digs aimed at Dele Alli.

I take a view that if you stare at anything with a critical eye for long enough, you will probably find fault – eventually. Perhaps Dele will stay and fight, maybe he will seize a fresh opportunity. What’s unhelpful however, is just calling him out over nothing. That’s not fair.

If he can pull his finger out and start showing some of what he is capable of, I would drop Sissoko for him. He played that position at MK, he could be immense there for us. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for him to make a comeback. I would hate to see him find his form for some other outfit!

Like Winks I personally think this is about Jose’s tactical approach and how he sets his teams up more than anything else.

Dele’s game doesn’t suit Jose’s ‘sit in and counter’ approach. Secondly he has two players that recently cost the club a fair wedge to also integrate in Gio and Tanguy.

Add the signing of Bale and Jose now has three players ahead of Dele in his mind. Son and Kane start, Jose wants pace so one of Bergwjin, Moura or Bale are in alongside them to make up your three attackers. Gio or Tanguy get the ‘10’ role and the two physical players that Jose always favours are PEH and Sissy.

Another manager might go without Sissy, or play a different system that requires a player like Dele. However, this idea that he’s just a talented waster that needs dropping just doesn’t really stack up for me. However Jose has a way of casting players aside that he somehow uses to make an example of. A manifestation of all the stuff he’s up against…

It’s not knowing the full facts that makes it difficult to give an opinion, but the lad is in full training and only Mourinho can decide what to do with him on the pitch, the situation has to be resolved at some stage though.
