O Keefe suggests Tottenham have made their decision on versatile defender amid interest from abroad

Paul O Keefe believes Tottenham will not sell Emerson Royal this month.

It was reported yesterday that Spurs have rejected a bid from a Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr for the right-back, however, they are expected to return with a revised offer.

But the Spurs insider has suggested that Spurs have no plans of letting him go this month since they have no backup for Pedro Porro.

Mail Sport’s Simon Jones also relayed the same report, claiming Spurs are keen on retaining the right-back for the rest of the season.

But the report also claims that Al-Nassr have not given up on signing the 25-year-old this month.

Emerson Royal has faced limited playing time this season after slipping down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.

While not the most technically gifted, the Brazilian international has demonstrated his importance as a valuable squad member under Postecoglou.

Versatile in adapting to various positions in the backline, he has been a reliable option when needed. He covered well for Cristian Romero in the central defence during his absence earlier in the season.

Although Pedro Porro has taken over as the first-team right-back, Emerson Royal continues to serve as a dependable backup, despite his limited playing opportunities.
