Mourinho’s words on the League title will warm the hearts of Liverpool fans & leave Levy feeling uncomfortable

In the Sheffield United press conference, Jose couldn’t resist getting in the fact that he predicted Liverpool as Champions back in November, when he was working briefly as a pundit for Sky Sports, but that was the closest the Portuguese got to any of his usual ‘Special One’ nonsense.

What Liverpool Football Club did in terms of supporting and backing Klopp is a matter of record. They allowed the German to run the show his way and their fans were repaid a thousand-fold.

At Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino was not supported, not backed and instead allowed to drift inexorably until his squad that had once boasted youth and was ageing and dysfunctional.

Meanwhile, on Merseyside, there was no lunatic spending, just a calm and considered strategy from a club that knew there were only a handful of adjustments away from success.

Liverpool are European Champions, and not one Tottenham fan could possibly make a single cogent point against the way Fenway Sports delivered the best club trophy in the world, and the title.

Whilst ENIC have accrued a generational debt and won nothing, are Fenway currently wondering if they too ought to have demolished their home, Anfield, and sunk all their cash reserves into “infrastructure”?

Not on your life!

Unfortunately we don’t have a Sugar Daddy in charge of the club that will be willing to shell out a king’s ransom to reach our goals. Having said that, Ndombele is our record signing and everyone was taken by surprise with the signing of Bergwijn. Lo Celso looks like he will be more than value for money and if Jose Mourinho believes that he can have us challenging for silverware with subtle tweaks to the team then why can’t we believe it is possible under a Manager who clearly rates the likes of Kane and Son while he has improved Aurier as a player.

Right at the end so no Aurier and no Japh, so who can play there? In training they have tried Skipp and Gedson there. Also Sissoko. Also Toby can play there because he has in the past! Please don’t put toby there he will be horribly exposed same as verts was… I would probably put Dier there 🤔 Straight away our weak squad is exposed only third match after the restart. Square pegs in round holes.

The dismay at what we are doing to achieve our goals comes from the message that Levy keeps sending, that there is very little to spend on transfers and that that little will be made up of money from sales. Is it unreasonable for some fans to conclude that if that is true how can Spurs close the gap to Man City, Liverpool and compete with Man United and Chelsea who are now spending big money to regain their place in the top four. As of this morning we are forty one points behind Liverpool, do you think a few free transfers and loan players are going to close that gap? I’m over Poch and want Jose to succeed and if he does it’ll be his greatest triumph, but to be fair to him he’s operating with one hand tied behind his back.

Did you also hear that Jose shares the vision of Daniel Levy and believes that not much changes in the squad needs to be done to challenge for silverware.

We’ve got arguably the best stadium in the world, a Manager who is proven at winning silverware than most in the game but yet there is dismay at what we are trying to do to achieve our goals.
