An interesting suggestion from Football Insider for us, that José Mourinho is attempting to lure Leicester City’s Demarai Gray to N17. According to the English site, José has contacted Grey personally.
The way many negotiations work with Mourinho is that that Spurs ask for permission to talk to a player, the gaffer makes his assessment after offering a thumbnail sketch of what he’s looking for and what deal might be available. Then it is down to Levy to negotiate with the club…
Demarai is a good player, and one that our friends at Transfermarkt estimate to be worth some £13.5million, which one needs to bear in mind, does allow for the ‘Coronavirus effect’ upon the market. Clearly these prices are one matter and whether clubs wish to sell in this climate is another.
Aged 24, there’s enough margin in terms of time for Mourinho to develop the boy further. However, what may be more in the forefront of José’s mind is getting a tune out of Dele Alli.
There are better for similar money, or persevere with Sess.
Add more English is the necessity. Homegrown rule… We are never getting sterling or grealish or foden etc… Price range.
Left back, right back, striker needed urgently… If class can be bought like Coutinho, Bale, anyone who would upgrade us in the middle if there is any money at all after nailing the urgent positions first then happy days……… First time I’ve been online in days and most reported target is Dami Gray.. Another winger who is never walking into our firsts. My goodness gracious me. English though, they are dear and we need more so typical Levy to be targeting budget.. Super Jan obviously not getting replaced too? I can only hope targets and deals are being done behind closed doors. Full backs and a striker to walz in on Levy time? That would mean we mean business.
Max% agree.
We monitor more people than an ICU. The reality is until we sell we will not buy. This translates to the same old ground hog day of zero investment in the playing squad and funding new players by selling existing ones. You do not have to be a Philadelphia lawyer to realise that is going to win you nothing as has been exampled over the last 20 years of gloriously successful ownership by these parasites who own and run the club at the moment with just one League Cup sitting alone in the trophy cabinet. Here is the thing that somehow Levy appears to dodge the bullets that should hail down on him for. The clubs who own the players we are “monitoring” “linked with” “Interested in” etc are fully aware that Levy will not buy until he sells. So as he runs down the transfer window clock as always, the selling clubs to us will run it down as well as they know that as he always wants more value than his player is generally worth when he is selling the chances are the buying clubs for those players will also wait until the last minute. All he is doing is backing himself into a dead end and as result nothing happens or last minute punts happen to appease the fans that do nothing to improve the squad. If however ENIC/Levy actually “invested” in the football business and bought players that are needed early ( as the most successful clubs generally do) without using funds from the sales of players then the clubs that seek to buy the players that Levy wants to sell would know they cannot let the clock tick down to the end of the window if they want to secure the players that they need. This whole transfer merry go round is of ENIC and Levys making and always costs the football club in terms of success each season. The whole business of football is just an irritant to these parasitical property developers.
You make a good point, for once we are in agreement. This is due to their youth set up which is very well coached and emphasise technique over power and strength. It never ceases to amaze me how many top class players cannot pass the ball with their weaker foot. It is all down to bad youth team coaching in English clubs.
They focus on the weaker foot a lot (from young) something we don’t do enough of here
They have a great youth system and scouting team, in other words, a great backroom staff, without a high staff turnover, take note Levy. They produce very good players and admit they are a selling club as attendances in the Eridivisie are very low. It is interesting to debate how their recent sales have performed. Was Davinson Sanchez a good buy for us? De Ligt has had a miserable season at Juventus and how has Frenkie de Jong performed at Barcelona?
Add more steel? Demarai Gray?
Nice nice nice player. Don’t they train’m up well there.
Good player but would put Van de Beek more of a priority
With gray assists 🌚
Dele will score more in a bad season than Gray will in a good one.
Cannot see this transfer happening. He cannot get in the Leicester first team and only appears as a sub most of the time. Leicester are not short of money and will only sell if the price they want is met, so I cannot see any satisfactory outcome between them and the famously ruthless master negotiator. We are also well stocked in these areas unless we are going to sell Lamela or Moura. I agree Van de Beek would be a much better choice and we have priorities in other areas and we have a very small budget. Eighth richest club in the world, someone’s having a laugh.
D gray I want him here. Dele Ali, what we gonna do with you, you’d better tighten up your game if you wanna remain Tottenham. You’re being overtaken all over the place. You best mind foden don’t “churps your gyal🌚
