The end of the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon was so chaotic that there was not much more to do then sit back and smile.
And that is exactly what Jose Mourinho did. A smile that says amused on the surface but with an undercurrent of frustration and annoyance.
Mourinho had just seen VAR award a penalty against Spurs after a two-minute delay, and Raheem Sterling avoid a second yellow card for a dive in the aftermath of Hugo Lloris saving the spot kick from Ilkay Gundogan.
HT: Spurs 0 Man City 0 First a penalty (to be fair, legitimately) given after everyone had forgotten about it. Then a penalty not given (which should have been) after Lloris had saved the first. Confused? You will be. Gotta love VAR. pic.twitter.com/13NYrqCn9g

The Portuguese did have reason to smile just after the hour mark when Steven Bergwijn’s debut goal gave us a 1-0 lead against the run of play.
