Mourinho falls victim to swipe from Solskjaer?

By Ron Carne -

While Tottenham’s encounter with Manchester United this weekend has been postponed, Jose Mourinho was a topic of discussion for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Thursday.

The Premier League announced on Friday that they have suspended all football until next month in response to the increasing number of cases of coronavirus.

With games on hold, Mourinho and Solskjaer will be forced to wait to cross paths again as the battle for Champions League qualification goes on.

However, as noted by ESPN, the Manchester United boss appeared to take two separate digs at his predecessor at Old Trafford when discussing the culture at the club previously and his injury troubles.

“I felt a lot needed to be changed,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying. “I believe that we’re going places. I believe that we’re on the track that Man United need to be on.

“There are different cultures at different clubs and different ways of doing things and believe in the way we do things at Man United now.

“I don’t necessarily believe in everything we’ve done before but at the moment I believe in what we’re doing.”

As noted by the Express, Alan Shearer was recently critical of Mourinho for his attitude towards injuries at the club, claiming that the Spurs boss was being too negative by highlighting those who are absent all the time.

When asked about injured duo Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, Solskjaer seemingly took another dig at Mourinho by insisting that he doesn’t talk about them.

“I don’t talk about those two, do I?” he added. “I want to focus on the ones who are fit and the ones I have got.”

As per the ESPN report above, they have been perceived as swipes at Mourinho, particularly the first, but with Premier League matters on hold for the foreseeable future, it’s unlikely that the Tottenham manager will have a chance to respond any time soon if he should choose to do so.
