Mourinho Bemoans A Packed Schedule And Now Admits His Players Aren’t Match Fit

By The Boy -

Questions need to be asked about José Mourinho’s pre-season preparations after yesterday’s debacle against Everton. Previously the Portuguese described the overload of both Premier League and Champions League games this month as ‘not human’. Which is now even more of a concern, given the further admission in last night’s presser, that his side lacked the intensity and the physical conditions.

We’ll drill down into the numbers of individual players across the day, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the groundsman at Tottenham turned the sprinklers off for 24hours, given the amount of sweat our boys generated on Sunday.

Cluelessness is something that becomes even less palatable when combined with lack of match fitness. The manner in which the boys played was so bad, so lacking in confidence, it took me back to the Champions League final, against Liverpool…

Mourinho may not care about what the Spurs fans think of him, in respect of the style of football we play. That’s fine. However, he will make life easier for himself and everyone else if the team are physically fit. Yesterday we managed to make Everton look like Real Madrid in their pomp.

All of that is true but that was then and this is now.

He doesn’t have the budget and the money is more spread about the league, you can’t bully your way through it anymore. You need an on the front foot mentality, like Poch had and as Pep and Klopp have too, only with bigger budgets.

All great managers have their time (Jose’s winning record was phenomenal) when they’re cutting edge. Wenger had his, Capello, Van Gaal etc but things evolve and leave those ideas behind….

You become superseded, that’s life unfortunately. Why would only Jose be immune to this unavoidable truth?

Too true. None of us want Spurs to be in this situation, but we saw it happening day by day over the last few years. Levy got lucky with Poch and if he had an iota of footballing knowledge, he would have done everything in his power to give him what he needed. Instead, he has replaced Poch with Jose and the same problems exist. The players are not good enough and making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear is not Jose forte. We need quality players, but they cost money that our residing charlatan isn’t prepared to pay out for.

This isn’t Levy or Jose FC. If they’re not good enough they both need to f**k off and leave this great club to people who have the passion and ambition to get it to the top. Burnley’s 3rd choice keeper is however, an inspired signing I take it? 😂

When Jose first arrived at Chelsea he caught the Premier League napping – he concentrated on getting the most powerful side armed with ridiculous financial clout, tuned up 15 players who were fit almost every game and each a true athlete and barely needing to go beyond that core group he trusted, who were mostly big units too and simply bigger/stronger/faster than a lot of the oppo. He then installed a different psychology not really seen on these shores before and took advantage of Brit fair play to introduce his lads to the dark arts of winning by skirting as close to cheating as allowed.

He was a bit of a genius basically

Now every team knows these tactics and techniques, most players are true athletes, and even the small clubs can purchase star players and retain their best thanks to the TV money.

He’s a clever bloke but I think it’s too much to expect to catch the league napping again – as with his Man U, Chelsea return and now Spurs this is a bit trickier.

Even if we win a few games and progress a bit in the Ropey it will only extend this sleepwalking into the abyss of mediocrity.

The only solution will be to reinstate Poch and his staff eventually. Is Levy’s ego too fragile for that? Would they even agree?

The whole thing as a complete and utter mess and the TV show is a complete embarrassment and a cringe fest. All you feel like doing after watching it is fantasising of making Levy stand in the corner with his thumb in his mouth for being such a deluded and useless little t**d…

We won’t be in the Champions League again for years at this rate. Thanks for the memories Poch.

Someone take Maureen to the knackers yard, he’s finished at a top level coach, and even more so with no budget.

We are an empty shell of a club with no soul or heart. A club that is the anchor tenant of an avaricious property developer owned by an offshore entity. A club that continues to treat it’s supporters with increasing contempt with the highest ticket prices in the PL. A club that sold season tickets to the new stadium, even though it knew that there was going to be another season at Wembley. A club that promised the supporters that there would still be funds for the transfer market despite the costs of the new stadium and then went two windows without buying a player. An event unknown in European football. A club that continues to peddle rumours in the transfer market as to our new recruits which are all smoke and mirrors. How many times have we read that Spurs made a last ditch attempt to buy Carlos Kickaball? We have no discernible scouting team to speak of , unless you count Steve Hichen which I don’t, no joined up transfer strategy and will be about to sack it’s eleventh manager whilst Enic have owned us. In the meantime, the dreams and illusions of many supporters have disappeared as we continue to be run by an incompetent megalomaniac.

I hope it gets bad rapidly, results wise. Then Levy will have no choice but to give Mourinho the boot. The concern, of course, is the cost to get rid amounts to a squad striker that we so desperately need. What a mess and only one man is responsible for that…

Everton bossed the midfield – end of.
Spurs have loads of attackers Son/Lucas/Bergwijn/Ali but no grafters/creaters to supply them.
A midfield of Hojbjerg and Winks – I watched Winks receive the ball pass it sideways then back and then gave up and didnt watch the 2nd half.

First opening day loss for the Special Needs One and first time we have lost to Everton in ages.

Lucas putting his head down and sprinting into opposition players was a highlight from yesterday. That and his deft first touch which puts the ball 15 yards back towards where it came from.

Its the middle of the park where we are lacking. No cohesion and just big spaces. Which would be fine if our cms could pass.

Winks is a nothing player. Before we ran out of steam, say the first 13 minutes, there were at least 2 attacks halted because winks had to take a touch rather than just pinging it first time. He is shyte.

Hojberg hopefully just had a stinky debut but i saw glimpses if a player that can pass more than 15 yards.

So thats is out of the title race then we’d better win the bloody ropey

The group dynamic appears fractious. The empty stadiums and lack of atmosphere creates a training ground exercise environment. The days of sticking one in the back of the net, running to the corner flag to be idolised by screaming fans is gone. The pre game antics and lack of interest in players has taken this over hyped game to new depths of the abyss. The players will carry on regardless as will the chairman who is a cheap quick fix merchant.

A completely abject performance, no excuses just really poor.
If that’s what we have to look forward to for the season, then be prepared to lower expectations of winning anything or league positioning, as it’s less painful that way.
Bringing Poch up gain, there was a least a 3 year period where, despite not winning anything as many keep pointing out, I genuinely looked forward to the next game because we were entertaining and you felt we could win.
As some fans have said, move on and forget, to this..??

Seemingly managing a weak team both mentally and physically who don’t look a happy bunch busted flush Mourinho is full of hot air! He won’t last. I tell you he won’t last. For want of repetition he won’t last!! Reflecting badly on Levy’s appointment thinking he would be quick fix, never slow to press the ejector button when required sacking perhaps unsackable Jose is a costly exercise!! The pressure is mounting. Something eventually gives. It always does.
