23-year-old Robin Koch is a player of interest for Tottenham, and this best long passes tape we’ve put together certainly shows grounds for enthusiasm.
José Mourinho is a pragmatic character and one who understands the limitations of being the Spurs coach. The Bundesliga produces some exceptional talent, and it may be worth Mr. Levy spending more time looking in this direction than Ligue1, which has hardly bee a runaway success.
Scouting for Spurs in these challenging times will require a fair amount of discipline. Doing nothing isn’t an option, or one ends up with contracts for elderly players being run down, which out to be an exception, not a rule.
Leicester appear to have a great scouting network in place: Mahrez, Kante, Soyunchu, Ndidi, Maddison, Tielemans, Ricardo. Southampton too: Mane, Van Dyke, Wanyama, Hoibjerg.. I’d love a bit of that at Tottenham, we never seem to unearth any hidden gems
Yeah it’s strange some good players just don’t work out, I remember Alex Ferguson signed a goalscorer from Spain, he never worked out, went back to Spain and scored bagfuls. How many Italian players did Liverpool sign and they never worked out.
I totally agree. We have signed some very good players, no one is perfect when it comes to picks. Comolli, Baldini or even this guy Campos. There are hundreds/thousands of players out there, the recruiting staff just need to do their job and get the right players in. I remember Helder Postiga and thinking why him? Jose Mourinho even came out publically and said he was a very good player, just not for the Premier League. On the other hand I could not figure out how Soldado could not score goals for us!
We do make good signings, Toby, Eriksen, Lo Celso, Sonny, but the problem seems to be that for every good one there are two duds. It’s a very difficult job, I will grant that, City and everyone else get it wrong, but with our net spend unlike City, United and Chelsea we can’t afford to make mistakes at the rate we do.
