Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou faces an uncertain future at the club as speculation about his potential sacking at the end of the season intensifies.
Spurs currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table, with just 34 points from 29 matches, having won only 10 games and suffered 15 defeats.
Their domestic struggles have been compounded by early exits from all cup competitions except for the Europa League, which remains their only hope of salvaging the season.
Levy’s ultimatum to Ange Postecoglou: Win Europa League or face the sack
It has been suggested that Daniel Levy has informed the manager that Spurs need to qualify for Europe next season if he wants to avoid being sacked.
With Spurs’ poor league form leaving them out of contention for a top-six finish, their only route to European qualification is by winning the Europa League. The club recently progressed to the quarter-finals after defeating AZ Alkmaar.
In the meantime, Levy is reportedly exploring potential managerial replacements should Postecoglou fail to meet expectations. One of the standout names linked with a return to North London is former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Recent sightings of Pochettino and Levy dining together at Limes in Barnet have fuelled speculation about a potential reunion. Pochettino himself has also recently expressed his deep affection for Tottenham, leaving the door open for a return in the future.
However, football journalists Jack Pitt-Brooke and James Maw have downplayed the likelihood of Pochettino taking the Spurs job anytime soon.

Mauricio Pochettino return unlikely despite speculation
The pair agreed that Pochettino’s current contract with USA ahead of the 2026 World Cup makes a return to Spurs unlikely. They also ruled out the chances of him sharing the USA job with Spurs.
Speaking on The View From The Lane, Maw said:
“So it wouldn’t really be an ideal situation for him to be manager of any club team working on that calendar in 26/27 either. So you’re probably talking about Mauricio Pochettino, the earliest he could return as manager is when whoever is manager at the start of the season after next leaves the club. And that could be, we could be two or three managers down by that point.”
Pitt-Brooke added:
“Yeah, I think the chances of him, I know a lot of people have asked like, do you reckon he can job share with the US? Or do you think he can, can he just take over this summer? Like the chance of Poch not being the US manager at the World Cup are zero, like they’re just absolutely zero.”
“For him, like coaching the US at the World Cup is such a huge thing. Like it’s such a rare privilege to coach a host nation at a World Cup.”
Pochettino is well loved by Spurs supporters for what he achieved in his spell with the club. They were at their best under him and even came close to winning the Champions League, reaching the final in 2019, only to lose Liverpool.
While they would love a return, it looks unlikely in the immediate future.
