Giovani Lo Celso was the toast of the Tottenham fans after his display lit up an otherwise unconvincing 2-1 win over Norwich City this evening.
The loan signing from Real Betis produced – by some distance – his best display in a Spurs shirt, playing a role in both goals either side of Teemu Pukki’s penalty which had threatened to extend our winless run to six.

It was an all-round performance which suggested that Lo Celso may have a long-term future as one of two midfielders in the double pivot, a role which had previously looked beyond him in the ultra-physical Premier League.
There was a clear message from Spurs fans on Twitter – “sign him up”.

After tonight’s game, it is clear that Lo Celso is the real deal. Needs to be bought on a permanent in the summer.

Lo Celso was immense today, sign him up for 5 years and let’s get the wheels turning on the Jose era

Lo Celso really is a monster, a Lo Celso Ndombele double pivot with Alli at 10 would be beast.

Lo Celso is the man to replace Eriksen. Great player indeed.

Announce Lo Celso
— Docteur Meyeur (@DocteurMeyeur) January 22, 2020
Jose Mourinho confirmed to Football London last week that Spurs are likely to make Lo Celso’s move permanent – which would cost around £27m on top of a £24m loan fee, according to The Sun.
On tonight’s evidence he would be worth every penny.
Levy will back him. New team within 3 Windows.
GLC looks the business, a little bit more time needed to see his absolute best.
We will have to wait until the end of the window to see if Levy is backing Jose or not. We must get a striker, this nonsense of only counting on Kane must end! Sometimes even the great Kane must be pulled off to try something different in certain games.
The boy looks good. I expect we’ll wait until the very end of the window to sign in case he breaks in the meantime….please stay fit GLC.
I agree that Tanganga shouldn’t be stretched too much too soon, the same can be said for Sessingnon. Isn’t he even younger than Tanganga?
I agree, those three have got to be integrated into the midfield as soon as possible. The Winks/Sissoko thing doesn’t work and Dier just looks lost these days.
Not sure how all three of those play in the same side, possibly in a 451 or something? All of them like to get forward, who sits in?
Sessegnon isn’t ready to play fullback at Prem level. Left midfield for now. Perhaps Jose is throwing these players in to show Levy what they can or can’t do?
Oh well, not under Jose then…
I get the feeling that Jose didn’t want to overburden Tanganga with three games in a week, so he played Sessegnon. Who regrettably was pretty dire, yet again, both in defence and attack. He is too lightweight to be a Premier League fullback, like Walker-Peters, but appears to have no confidence in using his pace and skill to take on defenders as a wing back.
Well said, I couldn’t agree more. Lo Celso was the one silver lining in an otherwise pretty patchy performance. Now if we can get Ndombele fit and Gedson up to speed, we could have the basis of a far more dynamic and creative midfield, the best we have had since a) Moussa Dembele left, b) Dier forgot how to play football and c) Erikssen disengaged his mind from his performance.
Aarons too skilful, I mean not big enough physically for a manager who doesn’t like wingbacks. Cantwell has energy and would develop in a football playing team.
Erikson got booed a tiny bit when he came on.
Correct “said that man”..yes we have good players, its kept us in the top half of the table, but as a team and club, its woeful, just ask 60odd thousand fans booing, whilst we had the ball FFS…its weak, slow, uninspiring, laking ideas, laking any class, it comes from the top….Levy has already shown his cards by buying some unknown kid, because if it doesn’t work the chances are he will get his money back….
I hope Jose is being genuine – and I hope he can change things round, but for me, because Levy is unlikely to back him, I cant see it…
Not so sure, I reckon Hugo is the better keeper out of the two. Although Gazza has done well in his absence.
Well said, comedy legend.
😂
Hardly surprising, Norwich were the better side. Our bit of individual quality made the difference. Apart from that we were poor, yet again.
Oh and before I forget,
Vale

RIP
So should of Gazza, he would of saved that.
I’d take Arron’s and Cantwell off Norwich…
Tanganga should hav kept his place based on that rubbish…
It looked and sounded pretty quiet on the TV, other than about 10mins into the 2nd half for about 5mins. Heard booing at one point.
F all for the fans to feed off. Nothing.
I’d be trying to get The Midget Gem back on the books, 16 goals this season and a crowd favorite.
Not very good in there this evening. Celly stood out. The crowd was uninspired. Must do much better
We might finally get a Willian of our own.😂
Liverpool are a shambles?
Can see the headline now spurs sign willian you just know it.
Beat Liverpool 4-1 in 2017 and now they have double the points and it’s not even February. What a complete shambles…
Spurs player through and through. Makes it look like the 11m we paid for Eriksen was about right…
GLC played really well, My MOTM.
