“I would love to work with him” – Manager reveals desire to sign Tottenham player this summer; admits club is pushing hard to sign him

Millwall are eager to secure Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga on a permanent deal in the upcoming transfer window.

The 25-year-old, currently on loan at Millwall, has made a significant impact since joining the Championship club in January.

Millwall boss Neil Harris, quoted by London News Online, confirmed that the club has pushed hard to finalise Tanganga’s transfer, with a fee already agreed with Spurs in early May.

Tanganga’s current contract with the Lilywhites is set to expire next summer, but the club has the option to extend it by 12 months.

The Englishman has been a crucial player for Millwall, featuring in 18 Championship games this season, starting in 17, and scoring two goals. (Transfermarkt)

His performances have solidified his significance in the team, making him a highly desired asset for the Lions as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Harris emphasised the club’s admiration for Tanganga, noting his strong impact on the team and the desire to retain him.

He said:

“It’s really important that everybody understands, not just Neil Harris and his team-mates, but the whole football club is a big fan of Japhet Tanganga.

“I think I have made that clear in previous articles – I would love to work with him.

“Japhet is a player who will be in demand over this transfer window.

“As a football club, sometimes, we can only push as far when we go through a process which is involving individuals, agents and football clubs.

“It’s safe to say that we have pushed hard to see if Japhet is a possibility for us in this window.”

Tanganga’s previous loan spell at German club Augsburg was unsuccessful, as he did not play a single minute in the Bundesliga. However, his move to Millwall has revitalised his career, showcasing his versatility as both a central defender and right-back.

With Millwall keen to retain his services and Tottenham seeking a permanent transfer for him, Tanganga’s future looks set to continue at The Den, much to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

This move would benefit both the player, looking for consistent playing time, and the club, seeking to bolster their squad for the next season.
