River Plate are interested in signing the Tottenham Hotspur attacker Alejo Veliz.
The 21-year-old Argentina attacker is currently on loan at Espanyol and he has four goals this season.
According to a report from River Noticias, River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has ‘great interest’ in signing the talented young South American, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure an agreement with Tottenham.
The North London club need more depth in the attack and it would be quite surprising if they decided to sell a talented young player like Veliz in the summer. He has impressed during his loan spell in Spanish football season and he has the attributes to succeed in English football. He could prove to be a quality option for Tottenham in future.
The 21-year-old could support Dominic Solanke in the attack next season. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
Espanyol manager Manolo González has heaped praise on the Tottenham attacker recently, and he believes that the 21-year-old has what it takes to build a great future.
He said to SPORT: “He has a great future in European football. He’s very young (20 years) and he has to pass a toll that we all have to circulate through. He’ll grow and every day we’ll see a better player.”
