The North London club were quite busy in the recently concluded transfer window. The focus was on signing players who could help them take the next step and getting rid of players who were surplus to requirements. Tottenham even loaned out quite a few of their young stars to ensure they get regular first-team minutes to continue their development.
Argentine attacking sensation Alejo Veliz left the club to join Espanyol on a season-long loan. He has surely had an incredible start to his second loan spell in Spain after having spent the second half of last season at Sevilla. The 20-year-old has been nominated for La Ligaβs Under-23 Player of the Month award for August.
Veliz has started in all four of their league fixtures and has been a constant threat to opposing defenders. In their last outing against Rayo Vallecano, the Rosario Central academy product scored an injury-time winner to secure the Spanish clubβs first win of the season.
The Argentine youth international has hardly put a foot wrong so far and is expected to be Espanyolβs go-to man up top for the majority of the 2024/25 season. It could be a breakthrough season for the 20-year-old given the kind of start he has had. It could prepare him for a bigger role at Tottenham next season.
Ange Postecoglou and his team will be keeping a close eye on the young striker who has been on fire since the start of the season. While he has only scored once so far, he will surely add to it given the kind of form he has been in.
