Lucas Moura and Arkadiusz Milik swap deal being touted but there is one huge problem

By Bruce Grove -

One problem that Tottenham would want to solve at all costs this summer is the issue of not having a good backup to Harry Kane.

It is a difficult problem to solve because any striker coming to the club knows that he will not be the main man and he is very likely to spend his time playing back up to Kane.

Nevertheless, the Lilywhites will look to solve that problem and a player that they have apparently identified to help them in that regard is Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik.

The Pole is one of the most underrated strikers in Europe, yet he has some of the best goal returns even though he is not the number one striker at the Naples outfit.

He looks to be on his way out of the Italian side with just a year left on his current deal and Tottenham are desperate to land him.

Now, Mail Sports is claiming that Tottenham is prepared to include Lucas Moura in their bid to land Milik.

Moura was the hero as Tottenham overcame a strong Ajax side to reach the final of the Champions League last season, however, he hasn’t been on form this season and he has no goals to his name this year.

He has been a target of Napoli before now, with the same Mail report claiming that Mauricio Pochettino blocked his move to the Italian side last summer.

Milik is also attracting the attention of Juventus (Goal), and because he is in the final year of his current deal, the final decision on his future is expected soon.

Well, there is one huge problem with this particular speculation and that is that Milik’s agent has made it clear that the player not want to play second fiddle to Kane (SportWitness).

The media can go on about a proposed swap deal all they want but if the 26-year-old has no interest in signing for Tottenham then it simply is not going to happen.

Another Saturday swapshop, pie in the sky non-starter. Why do so many of our speculative transfer headlines end with the words ‘one problem’?

Oh yeah…

Can’t see this guy uprooting himself to play second fiddle and no Champions League football. Moura is just a bit too inconsistent, no goals no end product. Mourinho likes him so he’s probably staying.

Exactly. One is never enough. We need at least one who is good enough to play instead of him.. But also a different style, someone that would suit him as a partner and can also play alongside him.. Someone with pace ideally because this is one attribute kane lacks.. A striker like vardy would be ideal.

Would he have any chance of starting at Juventus either? Werner has been bought by Chelsea to either play up front on his own or alongside Abraham, why can’t the same happen at Spurs. Why is it if you need a goal in the last ten mins clubs throw on another striker and they all of a sudden look more dangerous,we should be able to play with two up front more often and not have any new signing wilting on the bench until Kane gets injured. Fergie used to have four strikers rotating them regularly and pushing each other for the shirt.Other teams don’t need to guess are line up Kane starts every match and we have become predictable.
