Lose The £20 Clown Trousers Son: Pundits Nail Dele Alli’s Demise For Spurs And For England

By The Boy -

Dele Alli has been a stone in this blogger’s shoe. Even when he was knocking in the odd goal and providing the occasional assist, it bugged me that the boy was incapable of putting in a proper shift.

The truth of the matter is that if you asked a random group of youngsters what they most associated Dele Alli with, the chances are Spurs would be on their list, but that list would be equally dominated with a vast array of non Spurs, commercial endorsements.

A certain tranche of Spurs fans are allergic to players being scrutinized, and there will inevitably be mumbling about injuries and age. Good luck with the ‘explaining’ and the ‘excuses’.

Back in the real world, Perry Groves was on talkSPORT last week, rather clinically identifying the obvious problems with the 23-year-old, whose career has now officially flatlined.

Groves’ timeline of Dele’s demise made for uncomfortable listening. The punchline was cold: “Just concentrate 100% on your football.”

This week, it was former Manchester United icon Roy Keane’s turn to talk sense.

Whilst discussing international football on ITV, presenter Mark Pougatch brought up the topic, suggesting that Alli, 23, had finally realised his error.

Roy Keane replied: “If you’re Lingard or Dele Alli – interesting Dele Alli this week, getting rid of all of his commercial activities, realizing that maybe he’s at a bit of a tipping point of his career: ‘Hang on a second, I was the bright young thing at Tottenham and England and that’s not the case any longer’.

Dele Alli needs a wake up call, and with any luck this very public exposure of his daft decisions will do the trick.

Whilst some feeble-minded millennials appear fascinated with Dele Alli’s handshakes and checked clown trousers for £20, the overwhelming majority of us grown-ups, expect far more from this man-child.

I’d be stunned if the lad has it in him to get his act together for a sustained period of time. There’s a great football talent in there, but that’s been the case with so many flops before this one.

Prove me wrong Dele. No more chit chat, no more loser antics, become a man that is worth handing a Tottenham to.

I know nothing of the age group of NFL players.Wasn’t Kane quoted as saying he would consider a switch in sports in 10-15 years time?At 40 odd years old is that even realistic?
