Two good games, one howler. And so the Serge Aurier cycle is complete again.
Some Tottenham Hotspur fans thought they had seen the back of the Ivorian after a horror show versus Bayern Munich followed an early red card against Southampton.
Mauricio Pochettino brought him immediately back into the fold after his suspension, and Aurier responded with a couple of decent games against Watford and Red Star Belgrade.
So we knew he was due against Liverpool this afternoon!
Seventy-five minutes in, I thought we might have gotten away with it, but then Serge struck again.
A clumsy swing of his right foot in the box, after initially good backtracking, hacked Sadio Mane down to gift Liverpool a penalty which Mohamed Salah tucked away to secure the Reds a 2-1 win.
Aurier goes to clear, Mane, instead of going for the ball, puts his leg in front of Aurier’s kicking leg.

Mane really clever to put his leg in the way when aurier wanted to clear. Deliberately moving it to the left as he ran. #LIVTOT #Mane #penalty #aurier pic.twitter.com/pKggenoFyL

In truth, it had been coming, with Liverpool completely dominant at Anfield but for a resilient defensive display to end with something so avoidable, it is a bitter pill to swallow.
Its not that we scored too early…its that once we scored we tried to defend for 88mins with all 11 players. What we should have done was tried to play keep ball…in their half…and try to score again. we went there for either a draw or a graceful loss, and that is what we got – Poch didn’t even dream of us winning so when we went 1 up he had no plan what so ever.
I don’t know what’s more frustrating. Watching Pooch and our lot try and perform or the comments section on this forum now.HH it seriously needs sorting out.
