Levy’s financially motivated decision has left Spurs player very unhappy – wants to leave in January

French outlet Le Figaro (via Sport Witness) has shed light on Hugo Lloris’s situation at Tottenham, revealing the goalkeeper’s discontent and eagerness for a January exit.

During the summer, Lloris openly expressed his desire to part ways with Tottenham, attracting interest from several clubs, including Al-Hilal, Nice, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Lazio. Despite this interest, negotiations failed, leaving Lloris sidelined, yet to make an appearance this season.

Instead, New signing Guglielmo Vicario has come in and been absolutely brilliant between the sticks and Fraser Forster has become the second choice keeper.

Postecoglou earlier in the season confirmed that Hugo Lloris would not be included in the final squad registered for the upcoming season.

As per the report, the veteran goalkeeper’s frustration stems from an apparent contract dispute. He anticipated a free transfer a year before his contract’s end in Summer 2024, expected Levy to sanction it as a parting gift from the club.

However, Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, aimed for a transfer fee, displeasing Lloris and leaving a bad mark on their relationship.

Sources close to Lloris, as reported by Sport Witness, highlighted his priority—his family—as he seeks a move to a competitive club rather than settling for a secondary or less ambitious side.

He is now said to be ‘impatiently waiting’ for the January transfer window, hoping to seal a move away.

TBH Says:

Despite a dip in form over the past couple of seasons, Hugo Lloris is regarded as a club legend by Tottenham fans for his remarkable 11-year tenure with the club.

He has still been brilliant behind the scenes as revealed by Vicario himself. According to the Italian goalkeeper, Lloris has been helping him settle at the club and been a constant support for him.

One would have expected Levy to treat the club legend with more respect and allow him to leave on a free a year before the contract as a gesture for his services but looks like Levy has once again put financial gains above anything else.
