Levy’s Current Bid is Woefully Adrift From The €60M Demanded For Serie A Star

By The Boy -

Tottenham’s transfer activity shows no sign of slowing, not with new, an improved José Mourinho turbo action! For a side with no money in the midst of global pandemic, based in a country that is highly unlikely to have anything much in the way of conventional match day revenues until next summer, Spurs sure do appear to be blazing a trail!

SportMediaSet believe that Daniel Levy’s latest target is Inter Milan centre back, the Slovakian Milan Škriniar.

This 25-year-old is another classic Mourinho type, strong, technically sound and with good experience in Europe. In his four seasons for Internazional, Milan has been a first team stalwart. The only potential problem is Inter’s asking price of €60million.

Spurs fans have been here too many times before, and it will be interesting to see what transpires on this occasion. Another dimension to this story from MediaSportSet, is that Antonio Conte said to be looking to buy Milenkovic of Fiorentina, who would cost more than Levy’s current €35million offer, for Škriniar.

At this rate, it’s fascinating to see who will be delicately booted out of Hotspur Way come the first week of October, as the wage bill at time of writing, is beginning to make squeaking noises.

Son is NOT a striker. He’s excellent at breakaways and breaking a high line (as on Sunday), but in no way shape or form is he a target man, as Mou says. We need a player who can both hold the ball up to let play catch up and also who is good in the air. Not Son, though he is world class at what he does.

He was poor in Fulham’s PL season, his stats dropped off a cliff. Yes he’s so promising Fulham don’t even want him back on loan apparently.
Re. Clark he was never that special or particularly rated by Leeds fans, hence our scouting network at the time was sub standard. We loaned him back to Leeds and he just wasn’t good enough to get evon on the bench at times!

Son gets more goals than these so called strikers we get linked to.We will get our striker before the window closes, just not sure which one.

Yep. I don’t mind a ten mil teenage punt either. Clark was ripping it up down there. We won’t lose money on him. He’ll come good. He is still a boy

Sessegnon wasn’t poor for Fulham,he played under three different managers who all used him in different positions and were fighting relegation. If you are the best player in the championship and happen to be English you won’t come cheap. The price of £25m plus josh Onomah was what it took to bring him to Spurs ahead of Liverpool and Man Utd who both wanted him.I don’t know much about Clarke but as you support Leeds you will know more about him than us Spurs fans.

He wanted to go out on loan but doesn’t want to now that the goal keeping coach has changed. He likes working with hart and the new keeping coach. His mum is a “wow” lady, and I don’t just mean to look at. Wonderful lady.

Alfie can go on loan for some real experience which is more than he will get playing with the under 23 or siting on a bench.Like Skipp & Parrot and maybe Sessegnon it will benefit everyone in the long term .

Alfie whiteman would disagree. Its about time we had a keeper come up through the ranks.

He would already have company. Jan. You can’t send players to where they don’t want to go though man. Would be nice if he wanted to

Yep Levy’s hit rate was becoming on a par with winning the lottery, especially now Dele appears to be going south.

Our transfer policy was very speculative before and that wasn’t all to do with the budget as we’re seeing.

Jose getting players for the same price but who have picked up 30+ PL appearances per season for their clubs the last two or so seasons.

It’s not all about the resale and that is a relief tbh – for every ‘potential star’ you’d have two or three relative flops.

Why did we waste so much money on Sessegnon and Clarke that we could have spent on priorities for the now and not the future? Sessegnon was poor for Fulham in the PL, this should have been enough to “avoid like the plague” for the big money we paid for him, perhaps a loan at best. Clarke never really impressed for Leeds tbh I don’t know what our scouts were thinking, when loaned back he was just a bench warmer. I think our scouts need to go to Specsavers.
This buy for the future has for the most part failed for over a decade at least. The present is far more important now the stadium is here. It looks like after many wasted years and millions the penny has finally dropped, and it appears it took Mou to show Levy the trick, the one all the other big clubs follow. The secret Mr Levy, was hiding in plain sight.

Basically Gazza going might free up a spot to purchase a foreign striker…so you don’t spend the £10 mill premium to buy an English and/or homegrown striker…you get more for your buck?

Instead of having a foreign reserve goalkeeper. Maybe this isn’t the case but got the feeling this might be the sort of jiggery pokery going on.

18 month loan ✅

2 players required for every position said Mou, on countless occasions including to camera. Ahem we only have 1 striker who is injury plagued these days. Priorities.

I think the ‘homegrown’ quota weighs heavy on this squad – hence Gazza going. Do you want your goalkeepers to take up those spots, esp a reserve keeper? I think if the squad wasn’t a mess in this regard Gazza might have stayed.

I guess Fernandes sees out the loan if there’s no other option – I thought it ended in January? 18 month loan?

Why get rid of Gazzaniga he’s better than Hart ,already knows the players and our set up,and you still need three keepers. You can’t just cancel a loan contract before the time limit or would be liable to pay up the remainder of it.Fernandes contract runs until the end of the season.

It’s chalk and cheese it really is.

A totally different approach, as H said above it’s a strange set of circumstances for the club to ‘go all out’ as it were.

What I’m liking about this window is there is INTENT – not being CONTENT.

Here’s a thought. Jose likes Dias from Benfica. Send them Dier as he has played in the Portuguese league as a CB, so shoudl fit in nicely. He could even take Dele with him for company. Might still have to sling Benfica some money though.

We now have three players in the top 10 highest wage earners in the league – who ever would have imagined.

Foyth, Rose, Gazza have to be shifted, no room for manoeuvre with those. Finally getting Rose out of the building will be a headache no doubt.

Sess, Alli, Clarke, all out on loan.

Aurier I’m 50/50 on – we shouldn’t be desperate with him, if we start playing wing backs he could be a handy squad player. Expect him to go but should command a decent wedge. Otherwise at this point keep him. Gedson Fernandes…I guess if Aurier goes he’s our ‘last resort’ right back? I’m not sure what that loan is about anymore but if Aurier stays seems like you could cancel it?

Busy times for Levy.
