Levynomic Doom & Gloom: Experts Predict Fan-free Games To Become An Ongoing Thing

By The Boy -

Deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam says the UK could be waiting a comparatively long time for a Coronavirus vaccine. The implications for all of us living ordinary lives is still unfolding, but the impact for those of us who have just sunk a billion pounds into a multifunction leisure complex is chilling.

Nobody could have possibly provisioned for a pandemic virus, well, apart from Wimbledon of course – did you know that? The All-England Lawn Tennis Club is one of the few sporting events that were prepared for Covid-19, having taken out pandemic insurance after the SARS outbreak some 17 years ago. The £1.5million per year in pandemic insurance since 2003 will now feel like a snip now, eh?

Social distancing is likely to be the new normal according to The Premier League’s medical adviser, Dr. Mark Gillet.

Picture ENIC’s 62,000 seater arena being empty for some considerable time to come. Picture the fastest pouring pint stations dusty and dry. Picture an £800,000 whole in the balance sheet for every single game.

Opinion

I’m left somewhat saddened that this awful virus has handed ENIC an excuse, and would have preferred to watch the situation run its natural course. Either way, the nearly-club mantle remains safe – as does the £600million debt.

The £800,000 figure for Tottenham’s match day income was from a game day only about five matches into the season, when all the systems were probably not in full gear. To give some perspective that same weekend Manchester City had a match day income of over £200,000. As the season went on the demand for hospitality became so great Spurs had to ask permission from the NFL to use their suites for the overflow. That original figure has probably been overtaken since the start of the season.

I like the sentiment here. Keep that positivity! We can all look forward to after this thing is done and hopefully we’ll be in a strong place.

Yes I wouldn’t be surprised if we earn even more that Utd in future for match day rev – including all the other events that will be shown.

Maybe worth pointing out a couple of things as well. Up until now, we are still run with a low wage bill – not one befitting of a club with £470m turnover. In fact it’s £80m less than most of the other big 6 teams. So that’s going to put us in a relatively good spot. Compare Arsenal who could lose £100m match day rev, but who also have £230m wage bill.

Also, we may stand to make untold revenue from our stadium in future, but as yet we haven’t really got going. This pandemic would have hurt a lot more if it had happened in a few years time, once we had gotten used to the extra money coming in. You don’t miss what you never had.

If I were Levy I might look at this as a massive opportunity to strike when the prices might take a dip – take advantage of the situation. We know the problem is short term and things will get back sometime next year. The stadium will still be earning fortunes after the pandemic blows over. Now is not the time to panic, it’s the time to invest.

The Daily Mail reckon the two worst hit clubs will be Manchester United and Spurs with United losing around £116 million and Spurs £100 million. They think Everton will lose about £15 million. The £800,000 figure for match day income at Tottenham doesn’t include commercial and TV money which bumps the figure up to the £100 million mark. United’s bigger stadium and legacy commercial deals give them the edge. We’re in playing with the big boys now.

Yep. £ough £imes a head. The little one mil a week we have to pay re our debt and the just under one mil a week to haringey council won’t be a problem still though. Who better than levy to be in charge during these tigh£ times. We’ll get through these lean times brother. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR. lion club and when things do eventually get back to normal it won’t take us long to start earning again while other clubs will still be struggling for ages afterwards. We’ll take advantage of these clubs. Levy gonna be ruthlessly raping them. Oh and in the mean time our stadium will continue doing GREAT fkng work. I’ll be down there later🌚
