Levy On Fire Spurs Want To Sign Lo Celso Even If Eriksen Stays

By The Boy -

This would be a game changer, to put it mildly.

A source close to Tottenham Hotspur tells the Harry Hotspur blog that the Lo Celsoe to Spurs transfer is still very much alive.

It might be a useful moment to remind readers of this recent blog which was published the same day as the rest of the football media were resolutely telling you that the THFC were walking away from talks with Real Betis.

Indeed, the take away from that piece was that the deal wasn’t over and Levy would prefer to get it done sooner rather than later. There was no brinkmanship at play on Tottenham’s side here.

The situation never changed and despite the ‘will he won’t he‘ routine from Christian Eriksen, the suggestion is that Levy has been busting a gut to try and make the last offer he made for Lo Celso workable, EVEN IF Eriksen were to stay.

In a nutshell, if this can be achieved then Lo Celso could be bought sooner than was initially predicted, as there would be no last minute deal dependent upon whatever could be recovered for the Dane.

Yes, Levy busting a gut. And not in some diabolical, macabre way as I might have otherwise envisaged.

No.

Read the article again.

Maybe with adult supervision.

What strange times we live in. Has the penny dropped for Levy, that even our best players need competition for places?! I’ve long thought that CE dropped intensity because he knew his place was guaranteed. Same for Del boy. These lads need to feel the hunger to get on the team sheet. That desire translates to better performances and who knows, silverware??
I’ll stop short of full on praise for Baldy as he is only trying to rectify a situation we need never have been in and IMO is still pissing around with the Rose and Toby situation when we have the means and the will of the players to retain 2 of the best defenders in the PL.
I’m OK with Trips going. I’m not convinced Foyth is the RB we need to replace him, but Poch is the full back whisperer so I’ll have a bit of faith. I will be Brave.

Recently you said that according to your source, Spurs would be buying Dani Olmo.

You didn’t read that last ‘busting a gut’ comment, did you!

This would be great news and would confirm what I had hoped, that Poch’s top two targets, Ndombele and Lo Celso, were NOT dependent on outgoing sales. If Levy manages to get both those targets over the line (Ndombele obviously already having been done), then genuinely hats off to him.

Now if Erikssen were to still depart, that would bring a third incoming midfielder into play, most likely Zaniolo. Sessegnon would be a direct replacement for Rose, which on an immediate basis must be seen as a downgrade, but he can hopefully be swiftly developed by Poch, whose record with full backs is second to none.

That would still leave the money from the Trippier sale, plus whatever is made from selling Janssen, Onomah, Edwards, Nkoudou and perhaps Victor Wanyama, who West Ham reportedly have an interest in. If that could generate another 60 million, to be invested in a couple of top young prospects, perhaps a CB and a striker, plus we can keep Toby, then it will have been an outstanding window. Fingers crossed!

Kane loves training with lorentte. They all love him. I think he’s a bit of a waste of a squad place though but what do I know. In poch I trust.

I feel like I’ve crossed over into an alternate dimension where you’re praising levy and I’m having a go but having a go I am….(kind of). This transfer will not happen. The Sessegnon transfer will not happen. Trippier sold, Rose soon to be sold and then the rest of the chaff will probably be loaned out again as nobody wants them but that’s our lot. Levy is probably in therapy, trying to come to terms with the combined fee of the two we did bring in.

Lo Celso would provide stiff competition to Eriksen for his place as playmaker and make the Dane lift his game which is what we need. Quite frankly though I’d be amazed if Levy were to spend that much money if CE was staying. It’s just not in his DNA. Can’t see it happening.
In a similar way Kane badly needs competition for his starting place too. Llorente isn’t competition for anyone, except perhaps the plastic cutouts they use on the training pitch.

Great news if true but we all know Levy.
Llorente has alegedly been offered a one year contract on reduced terms.Perhaps it’s 80K/wk which is what Eriksen is currently on.Seems about right Daniel.
This is not the way forward or being brave,it’s just fucking stupid. He must have something on Poch.

Great news if we were to keep both with lots of rotating options ,mainly binning Ali unless he pulls his finger out his arse as he was gash last season.
Still need a striker and L.B and C.B depending on people moving on,still lots of rehashed stuff about Seggason .

Pre season has started, new signings, injury aside, should be with the squad no later than a week in……. It seems Spurs (Levy) continue to do things the hard way……
