“Let’s get it right”: Chelsea boss suggests Jose Mourinho is milking Spurs injury issues

By Rob S -

Frank Lampard was once one of Jose Mourinho’s loyal Chelsea servants but now the two men are fierce rivals.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho faces Lampard’s Blues on Saturday afternoon, but must do so without his two best attacking players in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Mourinho’s lack of strikers has been well documented in the press and he has frequently made a point of highlighting the limitations in place.

As quoted by BBC Sport, he said Tottenham had effectively gone to “fight with a gun without bullets” in their midweek loss to Leipzig.

But current Chelsea manager Lampard does not buy the theory that Spurs are bulletless.

Lampard seems to believe that Mourinho is milking his injury issues, perhaps to create a bulletproof excuse should his team fall short of their targets.

“He has got attacking players, let’s get it right,” Lampard told the London Evening Standard.

“Dele Alli was up there during his best season at Spurs. Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick in a Champions League semi-final.”

Attacking midfielders Alli and Lucas started up front in a 4-4-2 formation against Leipzig and were wholly ineffective.

Spurs go into Saturday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge one point behind Chelsea.
