“Let’s be patient” – Nuno Espírito Santo preaches caution with Tanguy Ndombele

By Eddie Razo -

Tanguy Ndombele saw his name in the transfer rumor mill this summer as the 24-year-old has yet to live up to the €62-million (£55-million) price that Tottenham Hotspur paid for in 2019 to acquire the midfielder from Olympique Lyonnais.

However, with the coronavirus pandemic affecting what clubs can spend this summer, not many were rushing to pay anything close to what Tottenham did for Ndombele two years ago.

As a result, the midfielder stayed with the Lilywhites and made his first appearances against Stade Rennais in the UEFA Conference League. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo wants to intergrate Ndombele into his sqaud now that he’s fully fit.

Tottenham didn’t add much help to their midfield aside fromPape Matar Sarr, who remained on loan at FC Metz. Nuno plans to count on Ndombele, and he’s cautious about whether he can help solve the creativity issues in the midfield. Sky Sports relayed the comments made by the Tottenham manager.

“It was the first game Tanguy was involved in since the beginning of the season,” Nuno said. “We had all the pre-season, and we are already playing Premier League and European competition, and it was Tanguy’s first game, so let’s be patient.”

Trouble is without him we haven’t got anybody capable of breaking down a defence following Levy’s cuts.

I’m not sure why we should be patient. The bloke has been with us a couple of seasons now and trousers a truckload of money each week. In my book, we’re well beyond the being patient stage.

With Kane in snoozing mode Tangy is the closest thing we’ve got a to a world class player at the moment.

Patient, Philosophy, Project, DNA, Future, Re-build and my favourite “differently” are words that come out of ENIC very regularly these days…none of which lead us to win anything….
