Lawrenson predicts FA cup clash between Everton and Spurs

By Bruce Grove -

Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham will beat Everton in their FA Cup match, but only after penalties.

Both Premier League sides will meet in an interesting clash on Wednesday as Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti look to get one over the other.

Spurs will be boosted by the presence of Harry Kane, who scored on his return to action in their 2-0 win over West Brom the last time out.

The England captain has been used mainly in the Premier League, but Mourinho’s quest to win as many trophies as he can this season should see him start his strongest team for this match.

Ahead of the game, Lawro believes that the game will be a tough one with both teams cancelling each other out for much of it.

He expects Kane to boost Tottenham’s chances of winning, but Everton will push the Lilywhites until penalties.

He predicts the game to end in a 1-1 draw, eventually decided by spot-kicks.

He said on the BBC: “Harry Kane is back from injury to lead Tottenham’s attack – and they really do need him.

“Everton’s form has, generally, been better in the past few weeks but they have still dropped some silly points at Goodison Park.

“I have a feeling this one will go the distance, and will be decided on penalties.”

Lawro’s prediction: 1-1 after extra time – Tottenham to win on penalties.

Midfield need to start banging in a few goals. They’ve contributed very little bar the Dane.
