Latest: Spurs are ‘close to completing a deal’ for £35million star who will become their first January signing

Spurs are ‘close to completing a deal’ for Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro according to a report from Daily Star.

Conte’s style of play relies heavily on the wing-backs and Tottenham have struggled mightily with the right side this season with the likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty consistently putting on underwhelming performances.

They also have Djed Spence as an option but the youngster who Conte publicly admitted was not a signing he wanted has not won the Italian’s trust yet.

And according to reports, Fabio Paratici has identified Porro as the solution to their right wing-back crisis after being impressed by his performances this season.

Porro has been fantastic for the Portuguese team this year, contributing ten assists to his two goals in all competitions.

According to rumours, Antonio Conte wants a more attacking fullback for Tottenham’s squad, and given the manager’s current employment situation—he is presently negotiating a contract extension—the club may be under additional pressure to give him what he wants.

Tottenham are reportedly planning to sign the player for £35 million by the end of this week, according to the report,

However, with Antonio Conte’s long-term future with the team currently up in the air, it will be interesting to see if players like Porro can be persuaded to commit their long-term future to the team.

Conte’s contract with the club expires at the end of this season, and he has not yet extended it. According to reports, during contract negotiations, Conte made a list of demands to Levy and company, including full backing in the upcoming transfer windows.

Perhaps, the Italian will make a decision after seeing the kind of backing he gets in January.
