Latest report claims PSG are after Tottenham star and have made him their “priority” signing

By Mehdi Gokal -

The future of Tottenham striker Harry Kane remains up in the air, with his current contract expiring in 2024 and talks of a contract extension yet to take place.

The Englishman is in high demand, with Manchester United and Bayern Munich both heavily linked with the striker.

However, it seems that Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have thrown their hat in the ring, registering their interest in Kane.

According to French newspaper Le Parisien, Kane is at the top of the list of attackers that PSG are targeting this summer, with the 29-year-old being their “priority”.

While United and Bayern have been linked with the striker for some time, PSG’s interest has added another layer of complexity to the Kane saga.

Daniel Levy and PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi have a good relationship, with the pair even meeting earlier this year to discuss a possible investment in the club.

However, securing Kane’s signature will not come cheap, and it remains to be seen whether PSG are willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has previously claimed that United are concerned that Levy will not be easy to negotiate with, and that any deal for Kane will not be less than £100m.

He wrote in his column for CaughtOffside:

“All the uncertainty at Spurs would suggest a negative impact on Harry Kane’s future. But you can argue it both ways. It all depends how much input Spurs give Kane over both a new manager and potentially sporting director. Kane has always wanted to ideally remain at the club, but if Spurs miss out on Champions League football, suitors will be encouraged.

“I am still told Manchester United have many striker options and are concerned Levy either won’t do business or will hold out for £100m+ and make negotiations very painful. Kane will speak further to Spurs over the coming weeks, but for now it is important form turns around and his goals can help that.”

Kane’s decision will also depend on his willingness to stay in England and beat Alan Shearer’s Premier League record.

He recently hinted that he may be inclined to stay in England in order to break the Premier League goal record held by Alan Shearer, indicating his desire to remain in the English top flight.

It is also still possible that he ends up extending his contract but who replaces Conte as their next permanent manager will be a huge factor in that decision.
