Journalist claims club are ‘concerned’ Daniel Levy will make transfer difficult

By Mehdi Gokal -

Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to be a topic of discussion as the striker’s contract with the club expires in 2024.

With no talks of a contract extension, rumours have been circulating that the 28-year-old may leave the club this season in search of trophies.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Kane and are expected to make an offer for him during the summer transfer window.

A recent report from Football Insider claimed that Kane has told his close friends that he is not going to sign a new deal with the club.

United hope to get a discounted deal for Kane considering he only has 1 year left in his contract. That means if the club does not sell him in the summer and Kane does not sign a new contract then he will be leaving the club on a free next year.

But according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Manchester United are worried Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not going to be willing to sell them their star player or if he does sell, it is not going to be less than £100m.

Writing in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Ben Jacobs said:

“All the uncertainty at Spurs would suggest a negative impact on Harry Kane’s future. But you can argue it both ways. It all depends how much input Spurs give Kane over both a new manager and potentially sporting director. Kane has always wanted to ideally remain at the club, but if Spurs miss out on Champions League football, suitors will be encouraged.

“I am still told Manchester United have many striker options and are concerned Levy either won’t do business or will hold out for £100m+ and make negotiations very painful. Kane will speak further to Spurs over the coming weeks, but for now it is important form turns around and his goals can help that.”

For now, Kane’s focus will be on turning Tottenham’s form around and helping the team finish top four which will not be an easy task.
