“Knowing Commisso” Italian manager says Spurs should forget about signing target in January

Tottenham has been linked with a move for Dusan Vlahovic as they struggle to get the best from Harry Kane.

Kane remains the only top striker at the club and reliance on him has seen the team struggle this season as he has failed to hit top form.

Antonio Conte could get his squad bolstered by the signing of Vlahovic in this January transfer window, but Spurs have been warned to forget about a new year transfer by a man who knows Fiorentina owner, Rocco Commisso very well.

Giuseppe Iachini has worked as the manager of the Florence club and says the club’s owner would keep the striker until the end of the season.

“Knowing Commisso, I don’t think he’ll be happy to sell Vlahovic in June. I think he will try to keep him and make him grow,” Iachini told Sportitalia, as quoted by Football Italia.

“I don’t think the president will sell him in January either, he will do everything to convince the boy. That being said, Vlahovic can play in every top club, he has personality and in my opinion, he is ready for a top team.”

Spurs made a mistake by not signing a backup striker for Kane in the summer, especially after he had tried to leave the club.

Carlos Vinicius may have played only a few minutes for Spurs last season, but having him in the squad gave some security and the Brazilian was ready if Kane was out of form, which never happened.

The January transfer window is another opportunity to add a striker to the squad, even if Vlahovic isn’t available.

A new goal-scorer would take the pressure and the spotlight off Kane for some time and the England captain would probably get his mojo back.

Conte will be worried about the lack of goals in this Tottenham team. If that doesn’t change, it would be difficult for Conte to achieve success.
