Tottenham will be facing Liverpool in their next Premier League game and in a boost to their chances of beating the Reds, Jurgen Klopp might not have a senior centre-back for that match.
Liverpool has been struggling with injuries to their defenders for a better part of this season.
Joe Matip was the last recognisable centre-back that the Reds had fit, but he pulled up against Fulham in their last league game.
Ahead of the match against Spurs, Klopp fielded questions on the availability of his defenders and he couldn’t confirm if Matip will be fit to play.
He said via Mail Online: ‘I don’t know yet. He left (the Fulham game) with a back spasm.
‘The physios are on him 24 hours. We have another session today so we’ll see.’
If the Cameronian cannot play the game, then Liverpool will be forced to field one of their teenage defenders alongside Fabinho, who is also a makeshift centre back.
Nathaniel Phillips or Rhys Williams are the teenage stars who have had to cover for them at the back this season.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will be happy with the news as they plan to tear apart the Premier League holders when both sides meet on Wednesday.
