Former Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier spent plenty of time with Harry Kane as the two were teammates for the north London club and on the England national team, which has reached the semi-final in 2018 and the Euro 2020 final.
During an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live Sport (via HITC), the 31-year-old stated that he feels for how Kane is often treated. The Newcastle defender added that what comes Kane’s way doesn’t get to the player himself because he is the best professional he has ever had as a teammate.
This season, Kane got off to a slow start, and Trippier stated that all goal scorers go through periods where they struggle to find the back of the net.
“Harry’s Harry, but it gets to me when people are criticizing him because Harry’s a goalscorer,” Trippier said. “He always will be.”
“Strikers go through periods of not scoring. But I would back Harry to score so many goals. Like he has shown throughout his career. He was unbelievable against Manchester City, not just his goals. But the way he plays when he is dropping deep and bringing other players into it.
Trippier adds that Kane has to continue proving his critics wrong, and those situations don’t get to him, though, his former Spurs teammate adds.
“He has got everything. His range of passing. And he’s shown why he is the best against Man City,” Trippier said.
“It’s like he has to keep proving people wrong. Harry doesn’t let it get to him. He is a top professional. He believes in himself, and I believe in him – he is the best professional I have ever worked with.”
Kane’s future with Tottenham remains up in the air as he’s been linked to a departure.

In this particular case I don’t think it’s just a case pf a phase all strikers go through.I am inclined to believe that Kane was badly let down and lied to by Levy and it hurt him deeply.
Of course he would love to win things at Spurs ,but is finally wakingup to the fact that Levy will not invest the funds required to take us to the next level.
It is reprted that he will review his situation in the summer, but much as Conte has found out,I think Harry has already made up his mind.He can still beat Sharer’s record at a club that has winning in it’s DNA.
Traditionally Levy doesn’t do business at the beginning of the window so Conte and Kane would be left kicking their heels waiting for Levy to do something.I doubt either of them would wait until the end of August just to be told “well we really tried you know”.The jig is up.
Along with Hoddle, the best I’ve ever seen at WHL. His loyalty to the fans probably cost him a lot of silverware. Absolutely love the man and his professionalism is incredible.
All Harry’s critics will see how good he is when he leaves.
