Noel Whelan has urged Tottenham to accept Bernardo Silva as a part of Manchester City’s offer for Harry Kane because they need a player like the Portuguese star.
City is desperate to sign Kane in this transfer window and they know he will cost them a lot of money.
They are prepared to table a sweet financial offer to Spurs and if it isn’t enough, they could add players as a part of the offer.
One of the players that they can add to their bid is Silva who has lost his place in their team.
He could thrive again if he joins Spurs where he would play under his compatriot, Nuno Espirito Santo.
Former Leeds striker, Whelan believes he would do a job for Tottenham and they should accept him in City’s bid.
However, he suspects that Daniel Levy would want just cash for Kane.
Kane missed Tottenham’s season opener against City but may still play in their next match.
“Do they (Tottenham) need a Bernardo Silva? Probably, yes, in my opinion,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“Could they (City) not bang a player in and some cash? That way you get the player off your wages and Spurs are gaining a very good international player.
“Moving to Tottenham, he could do a fantastic job for them. Up alongside (Heung-min) Son, that would be a brilliant front three they would have there.
“However, I think Daniel Levy’s holding out for the cash.”
