Journalist reveals which position Tottenham will prioritize during the January transfer window

The January transfer window will open in a few days, and it presents the first opportunity for manager Antonio Conte to begin molding Tottenham Hotspur into his vision. However, it’s only a month to conduct business, so it might be enough time to address every need on the squad.

When it comes to possible upgrades, the forward and midfield position are two areas of need. Nonetheless, if they can only put most of their effort into one, The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke believes the north London club will pursue a striker.

“I think another striker is a much likelier signing next month. Ever since the end of the summer window, Spurs have wanted to add one more player for the front line in the January one,” Pitt-Brooke stated.

“Remember that they tried to get Traore at the end of the summer window, only for Wolves to pull out of the deal late on. Kane, Son and now Lucas being solid in their positions in the team suggests it might be a fringe player or a youngster who comes in, though, rather than an experienced professional.”

Over the past few months, Tottenham has been linked to ACF Fiorentina’s Dušan Vlahović, who appears to be on the way out in January.

However, the Serie A club has been unable to reach a contract extension, and with his deal expiring in 2023, this window will be the time to sell and get the most for the 21-year-old who has 18 goals in 21 appearances this season.

Reports close to our club is that Vlahovic is Contes number 1 target to partner Kane… We pay Ndom 200k to mostly sit on the bench so I don’t see why not… We know that Conte favours two strikers… He’s been using Son sometimes, but he needs another for sure. For tactics, competition for places, and strength in depth… At the minute if Kane gets injured then we’re in trouble with no recognised senior striker. Son can’t play there on his own.

After Kane’s sold too, there’s no way Levy sanctions having two players of that quality for one position. Rumours emerging that Kane would be keen on Real Madrid. Hard to see any move to Citeh happening now. Kane out, this boy in, is the most likely scenario surely.

I think most of us would take that. I can only see any of what you say happening in the Summer, unless of course there were a few loans out and in that could be done and made permanent down the line.

Maybe those 18 goals by ratio in England will about 7 and Levy….Levy… What happen to Lukaku…. Goal machine Timo ? Fernandez and Locelso were midfield goal scorers in their respective leagues still waiting for that production. Ziyech and one Eze were just off the chains. What happen?

Absolutely eat my hat if Levy drops 70m big ones on Vlahovic next month. I simply dont see that happening.

I’d be happy enough with Bergwin out, and a concerted effort to sell NDombele. Replace these 2 with some quality and desire and the squad starts to look a lot stronger.

Would really like to see a “mature” striker come in on a 6 month loan, there must be some disgruntled international sitting on a bench somewhere who’d like to maybe come and sit on a different bench for a while.

Moses was a good player from his Wigan days, not now though surely.

According to Vlahovics agent, Spurs are the most credible option with the pull of Conte, Paratici, and Levy has seemingly given the green light… Not until the summer though, so don’t expect a Jan move.. This would be amazing.

With Conte having a preference for three at the back,it is obvious we don’t have a right wing back who can cross a ball.I had a thought and people might laugh, but would Conte make a short term move for Victor Moses?

He knows him well and he starred in that position for the chavs under Conte. The only downside is his age as levy will see no sell on value.

So happy we didn’t get Traore. His final ball is worse than Lucas. We don’t need more of that after years of Aaron Lennon. Traore looks brilliant, he’s quick and strong, causes all defenders problems, but you know he will mess up his final delivery. He’s like Bonzo when it’s time to pass or shoot.
