Journalist reckons Spurs have been scouting 21-year-old Championship winger

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham have scouted QPR winger Eberechi Eze this season as they consider making a move for the Englishman claims journalist, Alasdair Gold.

Spurs expect to have a quiet summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho won’t be given too much money considering the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the club has been scouting the midfielder for a long time now and they look set to make their interest official when the transfer window reopens, according to Gold.

He was answering questions on a Q&A session on Football London and a fan asked him about links between Spurs and Eze.

He claimed that the Lilywhites have scouted him this season and they are serious about landing him from the west London side.

However, the problem is that Jose Mourinho has too many attacking midfielders in his team at the moment and Eze would struggle to break into the first team which won’t be good for his development.

Gold said: “He’s a very talented player and Tottenham have scouted him during the season.

“They also have a really good relationship with QPR and that will help with any potential negotiations. On top of that he’s a Base client and Spurs have good links with that agency.

“The main hurdles for me are that Tottenham are packed with attacking midfield options right now and there will be competition for Eze.

“The 21-year-old will want to continue playing regular first team football and it might be that Spurs would have to pay the money and then loan him straight out.

“Would that be something they could afford to do this year with all of the financial issues surrounding football and the huge gate receipt losses taken even with the season resuming.

“Spurs have to decide whether, like Steven Bergwijn, he’s too good a young player to pass up on or whether this year it’s just not doable.”
