Journalist provides an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Adama Traoré

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur has a couple of weeks until the January transfer window, but despite the short window that the club has, they’re confident that they’ll have at least one addition to their squad this month.

According to The Athletic’s Dean Jones (via Football.London), Spurs are sure that they can reach a deal to land Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traoré to fill their wing-back position.

“Adama is a player that they’ve admired for quite a long time, and there’ll be some competition there for Tottenham, even though Tottenham are reasonably confident that they will conclude a deal for Traore,” Jones said.

It’s in Wolves’ best interest to get a deal done for Traoré this month as they’ll get less in the summer when he only has one year left on his contract. Spur has been linked to the Spanish international dating back to this past summer, but no move occurred.

Now with 18 months left on his deal and no extension in sight at the moment, Tottenham can perhaps use that as leverage to make sure a deal gets done between the two parties this month.

Traoré could be the first building block as manager Antonio Conte rebuilds the squad.

Levy sure knows how to support his managers doesn’t he? So much for the theories that Conte only joined because of Levy’s promises of financial backing. My theory is that Levy is gambling that Conte will squeak top 4 without January backing and that money gained can go in the pot for the summer and save Levy millions.
As we all know everything Levy does in the footballing sense turns to sh#t so good luck with that one Daniel.
Presume you’ll have a crack at being manager after Conte walks then? Give us a good laugh. Just imagine the pre match presser “I’ve told the boys to be pwudent in front of goal and not give anything away. Oh and I learnt from Hawwy that they need to wun about a lot”.

Tottenham will face competition for Traore, nice one, that made me smile.

They’re queuing round the block for the chance to sign him.

Roughly half way through the transfer window and no movement, no churn, nothing other than this rumour around Traore which of itself is hardly inspiring in footballing terms. I’m afraid where Levy is concerned it’s more of the same. It happens every January with the occasional last minute bargain basement buy which has “Be grateful” stamped all over it. To Dare is to Do? Yer right. Conte, probably the best manager we ever had bar Billy Nic, I do hope he’s paying careful attention and a huge part of me hopes he walks-we know he can’t talk as he’s gaged with the proverbial NDC. How come other teams seem to get the business done in reasonable time without all this faff and background noise fantasising about players we know will not arrive?

It’s mixed messages as other reports say Traore is not Conte’s choice, if I may be so bold as to mention one player I would consider is Neco Williams who is balancing his options at Liverpool. Fits the bill perfectly as a young WB already an international.
Whilst on I see there are rumours about Dybala moving, but that will probably wait till summer when he’s a free, just mentioning it.

Why is every transfer with Spurs so complicated? Its not rocket science.
Look at Villa. Coutinho is available for loan? BOOM done. Digne available for 25m? BOOM done. Next please.

I guarnatee you that if anyone signs it will be a) a deadline day meaning they would then need time “to adapt” b) some random “for the future” or c) deal completed with player joining in summer and d) Absolotely nada

Would be another poor buy. We need proper footballers, not just fast sprinters with no end product.
