Tottenham Hotspur will be in the market upgrading various positions this summer and Football.London’s Rob Guest writes that the north London club should be looking at Manchester United to pick some talented players that might need a change of scenery.
Furthermore, with the hiring of Erik ten Hag, Spurs could have some of these players as they might not feature in the Dutch manager’s plans heading into the 2022-23 season.
The goalkeeping position isn’t a need now, but in a couple of years Tottenham will need to land a successor to Hugo Lloris and Guest suggests why not go after Dean Henderson, who’s 25-years-old and will be 27 when Lloris’ deal expires.
Another player that Spurs can pursue without paying a transfer fee is Jesse Lingard, whose contract expires in June and showed last year with West Ham United that he can be a crucial contributor to a squad.
Finally, Tottenham could buy Marcus Rashford as the 24-year-old might consider a change of scenery. Manager Antonio Conte could be the guy that can get the most out of the England international, especially if he has hopes of being part of the Three Lions squad at the World Cup later this year.
Rashford’s contract is up in 2023, and if ten Hag doesn’t view him as part of his future at Old Trafford, he might be on the market.
Spot on. Saying their players wouldn’t get in our team is nonsense. Possibly Romero aside, their entire defense and keeper would walk in.
Rashford could be interesting, but he’s on big money.
Don’t see that myself – they’ve won a considerable raft of trophies whilst Levy has been mismanaging Spurs. They even won trophies under Mourinho.
Maybe Henderson. The rest, no thanks. I think Man United players are all damaged goods. There’s a bigger rot there than we ever had at Levy run Spurs.
Why would or should we look to bring in someone from United?
If recent seasons tell us anything, they’re also full of players happy to take the wage for minimal effort and attitude.
It’s just going to be a long summer of being linked to Rashford et al.
This
Pogba on a free, yay! 😂
I think he’s a different proposition to Dele but he’s not the sort of player we need. Doesn’t work hard enough without the ball for me either, plus he hasn’t been in good form for ages.
Is it possible that Marcus Rashford has too many ‘off-field’ interests that dampen his ‘edge’, a problem Dele Alli seemed to suffer from?
