Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The 23-year-old is highly rated at the Italian club and it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to sanction his departure before the transfer window closes.
We have covered reports earlier claiming that the midfielder is valued at €50 million (£41.8m) and it would be fair to assume that Spurs will have to get rid of their fringe players before splashing that kind of money on Zaniolo.
According to journalist Santi Aouna, the two clubs are set to hold talks regarding the transfer of the attacking midfielder later this week.
He tweeted, “New discussions planned this week between Roma and Tottenham for Zaniolo.”
It will be interesting to see if they can come to an agreement before the window closes.
Tottenham have assembled an impressive squad but the addition of a quality playmaker could propel them to greater heights in the upcoming season.
Zaniolo has the potential to develop into a top-class Premier League midfielder and a world-class manager like Antonio Conte could help unlock his potential.
Meanwhile, Ruma are keen on adding to their attacking unit this summer. Andrea Belotti is reportedly a target for the Italian giants and it wouldn’t be surprising if they decide to fund his arrival with the proceeds from Zaniolo’s sale.
I think the other day Eriksen made it clear he wasn’t coming back to Spurs.
I don’t rate Zaniolo.
I was at the friendly in Israel against Roma and I don’t think I saw a single stand-out move from him.
On the other hand Dybala certainly had class.
For us, Perisic was our best player.
Looked at clips yesterday of Zaniolo, Madison and Eriksen (at Brentford) and in terms of playmaker and spotting a pass, Eriksen was way above the other 2. Hmmm
Apparently we’re back in for Traore if this deal goes south. No thanks to the pair of them.
Why is Zaniolo considered a quality playmaker ?
No ..preferable to Traore..? Who knows, I wanted an AM.

No they aren’t…
If Dribbling is his strong point perhaps Conte/Paratici are looking at him against those low block, hard to break down teams where we have bags of possession. Dont rate him but trust Conte.
Sorry just don’t rate him at all…..is it just me?
